Looks like G-Vegas/Little Washington are going to get wet this weekend. Crappy day in RDU as well, most likely.

I had the most amazing time at MAM on Saturday. BIG BIG thanks to "Batouttahell" for inviting me.
We did a very exclusive HPDE with only maybe a dozen expert and instructor level drivers. It was OPEN passing, anywhere. We had the track to ourselves all day long. The day was nice and cool I don't think it ever got above 65 degrees today. At the same time there was a massive Harley bike fest going on over at the drag strip that shares the land and there was a RallyX going on as well. It was like an Autorama heaven out there.
I was the only R there, but the good ole baby pint sized motor held its own against the Porsche's and Bimmer's and STI's. At one point we even ran the short course and it really let the R shine without those pesky straightaways enabling the high hp cars to pull away. Let Batouttahell drive( he is the ITA single lap record holder there) the short course and he single handedly lapped the field. We started last and finished first. It was incredible to watch. Even more funny was how nobody gave the R any cred prior but after that run everybody wanted to see what was under the hood. It was classic.
I ended up running 320 something track miles today without a single incident or mechanical. Sure can't complain about that. I was sore all over on sunday. But here's the best part. At 8pm, in the dark, we did a session with headlights on. Can you imagine being at speed, trying to find your line, hit the apex, and find your corner exit without being able to see beyond your lights or beside you? In the last laps the sky opened up on and dumped rain. It was instantaneous standing water. I couldn't believe how hard it came down out of nowhere. It was INSANE!!! A little scary and completely exhilarating. It was also really cool being able to see glowing rotors off the other car's Too cool. I can now say I have driven MAM at speed, with headlights on in the rain. I cant think of anybody else who can say that. This is going to go down as one of the best track days of my life.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to second that. You're not allowed to have that much fun with your caR and not invite the rest of usDave_B wrote:2 words...

Kick ass. When did that one go? What clutch were you on? Also, what happened to it? Disk failure, or springs?Bbasso wrote:The one your father installed back in 05 finally gave out!Dave_B wrote:

Tell him about it so he could get a laugh, thanks again for that clutch.
It's seen two heavy long distance tows, bunch of light short tows, a few tracks, and about 30,000 miles!
