AEM CAI is damn loud!

Post by pUrExTc »

I have an AEM CAI currently installed into my car. My friend has the same + an exhaust system. In his car, you don't hear the intake at all. so, my question is: "If I were to install a Mugen Exhaust (quiet), would it quiet down the AEM CAI?" OR "What do I have to do to quiet down the AEM CAI?"

What do you have to do? Not floor it. hahah  I used to love that sound so much. Still miss the roar till this day. I don't think I will ever get tired of it.

AEM + ITR + old people on the road =

The exhaust might take away sound but not quiet it down. A header will also take away the sound the intake makes.

If you want an intake that will give you similar powergains, go for the Comptech Icebox. Better throttle response but sacrfices the extra 1-2 hp up top.

The great thing about the intake though...is your car will just scream VTEC. You can hear it very distinctly...very loudly...even a quarter mile away (ask my friend who was at the track with me).

That was the only thing I liked about the AEM. Maybe the extra power up top too...

downside? Makes me use up all my gas in a flash.

I haven't really noticed any extra gas being used...power difference...none is noticable...but i mean, it's just an intake, so i wasn't expecting any.

Gas because I'm always flooring it to hear the sound. I'm sure you know of that one. :)

CAI AEM

Post by bbqman »

Just put one in for my trip to the Glen. Wow what a rush!
I can't tell if it made the car faster, but it was very loud.
Loud enough to make NSX and ZO6 owners come over to see and compliment the shriek.

As for gas mileage, on the track I blew 3/4 of a tank to do 144km. Usually I do 400km on a full tank. Very Sick!
