Expo 7 was my first track experience, Expo 8 was my 2nd time on track I drove my base model 4 door STOCK Integra the first year. It's my DD and I was throwing it around 700 miles from home. I just had to be careful, not push it to the absolute limits, and have fun. Expo is an experience, not just track time. My only regret is that I didn't get into this community and its events years ago...
There will be plenty of people around to help you with "mechanics." One feller benefited from a transmission swap right in the paddock and another had his shifter linkage fixed after it popped apart, thanks to helpful hands.
In the past eight years we have only repeated track twice, and they were repeated the following year. The US is full of great tracks, it would be silly to limit ourselves to a handful. As for the Si being your daily, that is the case for several others. Most only do one track event a year, expo. Others do not choose to track but still make the choice to come out and enjoy the community. In either case, you will be well accepted and taken care of. The tranny swap story is true. Issues happen, but I can only think of two cases in two years that the individual had mechanical failures. Both engines were highly modified reducing Honda reliability. The past two years I have driven 1500+ miles to and from Expo, tracked, and driven home without an issue. Another member drove from Washington state to VIR, tracked, and drove home (E7). These are great cars that are meant to be driven(your Si is included). If you do all the regular maintenance items you should be fine.

Absolute truth, and if not you could still come out to experience the event anyway. Get rides on track, meet everyone and have an absolute blast. Whether you drive or fly and track or don't track.....it's 100% worth the trip.
