Chicago residents
I am planning to arrive Saturday evening and do some sightseeing/tourist stuff.
I will have Sat. evening and 1/2-2/3 of the day Sunday free.
What should I see/do/visit?
"Must sees"?
"Must do's"?
I will have my D50 and would like to snap some pictures.
I will be in the Civic so theft is 'somewhat' lower than if I was in a ITR.
I will need to swing by Midway Sunday afternoon.
Good/cheap/safe places to stay Saturday night? (downtown/burbs?)
Thanks,
Willis:|

you'll have to wait in a long line and the drink prices will make you cry, but the view from the 95th/96th floor of the
hancock tower is pretty amazing...
Thoughts?

Re: Chicago residents
both are cool. Hancock has a better view IMO, but Sears tower is up higher. Hancock is a bit more accessible also. Loads of places to eat. Giordano's FTW! Same goes for Fogo De Chow, but that is major money spent. But you get major amounts of meat.
Navy Pier is kind of neat and the aquarium is awesome.

Heaven on 7 (Cajun) , Superdawg (Amrican) ...... Maproom (drinking)
I think those were my highlights. Definitely the downtown loop is great place to visit as well.

Museum of Science and Industry was rad when I was a kid. I've heard it's much less so as an adult, but if you've never been you should definitely go regardless

The Lamborgini dealership just off of Michigan Ave downtown is pretty cool too, whether you like the cars or not, the actual building/showroom itself is awesome!Willard wrote:Buckingham Fountain

Re: Chicago residents
I've been to a few Yankee home games... Good stuff if you got the right seats where they bring you beer and food
Also saw a few NFL games, very cool. but TV coverage is way better then in person.

Any safe/cheap hotels in/near CHI?
I will be picking up 2 people from MDW (~8:00pm) and need a place to stay.
I will be in the Civic so theft is less of a worry :knocks on w00d:

Re: Chicago residents
Where are you wanting to stay? In the city by everything or in the near burbs? You can always go somewhere along Evanston or Skokie and take the train to the game and such.Willard wrote:tickets = purchased.

At this point, I probably know this city better than most others because my current job requires me to travel through it to different areas every single fuggin day, ha.
There are some decent deals to stay in downtown.

Re: Chicago residents
Hey will, ask Peter (00-0571). He showed me around Chi-town when i was there.
Obvious places to hit are Hancock Observatory, Sears Tower, and Navy Pier. i was at all 3 places. i also saw Viagra Triangle and the downtown area. There are a few car dealerships around the area. i also saw the area where they filmed the 2 more recent Batman films (Batman Begins and Dark Knight).
The biggest surprise though was the gas prices. Chicago has the highest gas prices anywhere even worse than California.
