Got a beater!!

Post by jetydosa »

Well after a bit of searching and debating, I finally got a beater!
Image
Its a 91 CRX Si, in *rare* Tahitian Green (ok, its TEAL Trey!). 165k on the clock and still running strong. It has a couple of issues (drivers seat has no more "cush" left, aftermarket stereo wiring wierdness) but A/C blows cold and doesnt leak any fluids so I think its gonna give the R a nice rest during the week.

What else you guys have for beaters? I know quite a few of you guys have em.

Actually, my ITR started its life being the beater for this car:

The beater's beater's beater ended up being an '02 EP3, when the prices dropped below $16,000. Here's that car, parked on a side street in Culpeper Courthouse:

Plans to use a '94 Accord five speed as a beater were hijacked when the kids decided that it was time for another Honda Challenge car. Corey and Morgan are now in the process of getting the car ready for the racing season.

My beater is a 93 corolla dx. About 105k on the meter. Current plan is to sell within a week or 2 and get an 2nd gen RX-7 turbo. Well that or a 240sx, but i would be too tempted to do an engine swap on the 240.

Adding a pic "post-detail." Much better! Now just to get some decent tires and fix the stereo goofiness.

Im jealous. I have no beater. The R is the beater, the daily driver, track car, etc. =(

For now. The search continues...

I like the CRX as a beater. Watching some of the Honda Challenge people and their cars, I realise you can have a hell of a lot of fun with some of these older cars, and not spend much money in the process.

Yeah I am trying to find a beater for my ITR. I was thinking of a 92-95 civic coupe for a beater. I do know where this crx is for 1000 so I just might buy that. Nice beater. Is that color really rare or was that a joke?

A joke. :) They're all over the place. At least they're all over the place in Virginia.

In fact, there's a 350 HP Tahitian Green EF hatch in my garage that you guys are welcome to buy! Please!

No actually it is pretty rare. It was only available in 1991 and only on the CRX Si and Civic Si. Other similar teal-ish colors have followed though. I dont particularly care for it that much, but its kind of cool that it was only available for 1 year.

Maybe VA people are more into teal!

Well the "beater" in the garage will not go for a "beater" price. And the 91 model CRX Si, Civcs Si and DX were rare colors. Every year Honda had a "specialty color", Tahitian Green was that. But the CRX was the rarest of the bunch. I actually wanted one to match my 91 Si once.

Here is the link of my beast For Sale http://www.itrca-midatlantic.com/civic.htm

I just bought an '89 accord sei w/200,000 miles this week for a beater.

My poor R has 106,000 miles of street & strip & track driving...it can only last sooooo long, so I figured I better buy a beater.

I'll post a pic this weekend after I clean the accord up a bit. **I'm jealous that crx's that nice are in VA! I really wanted to find something like that instead, but oh well.

What is the going rate for that condition crx/civic in your area? :D
