Anyone familiar with the metro system in Chicago? I saw a map showing a line from Chicago to Joliet, but the times were shitty. Trying to figure out the cheapest transportation possible...

There are two public transportation systems: The Metra, which is a bigger train serving the suburbs and traveling into downtown, and the El, an elevated train system traveling within downtown. Metra should be pretty cheap, but will probably take a bit of time from Joliet, and yea, the times will be sucky. A cab ride would be somewhere in the neighborhood of $50-60 I would think.

Steve, anyway you can jack some military style 2way radios from Area51? Would make for some fun communication on the road trip.

we've done that in the past and it's often more trouble than it's worth. Half the people don't know how to use them effectively.

Plus this is just a short drive so....

Good info! I used the El to get downotown when I was there for work one time (I think we were in Rosemont). It looks like I may have a ride from the airport to Joliet, so now I just have to worry 'bout getting back for my early departure. Thanks for the infos!

Well, the unfortunate happened. I got hit. Guy in a Ford F-150 decided to make a left across the back side of my car while I was stopped. I'm waiting on the insurance to decide what the fate of the car is at this point. I was so looking forward to Expo, now I'm not even sure I'll have a car for it...the cosmetic damage is minimal, but there appears to be some structural damage from when he hooked his rear bumper on mine and attempted to continue to drive! Ugh...I'm pissed about this, and the insurance company has banker's hours, and I can never get ahold of the person handling my claim. It's annoying.

I say let's do it. My training in Nam was very effective. It will only be 3-4 of us. I'll having nothing to do but search racist jokes online and share them with everyone.

Yeah, depending on what happens with insurance, I'll either be running the Integra, running something else, or not running at all. Hopefully running either the Integra or something else! Especially since that's $340 I can't afford to just flush...LOL.

That really sucks man. If all else fails I'm sure they've still got a waiting list of people for your run group. I'm only gonna be there to hang out and have a good time, but its okay because its gonna be a blast still.

Keep in touch with me. I have to take Nick and Dan back to the airport (MDW) Sunday afternoon. I may spend the night with them in Chicago... or just drop them off and start back to NC Sunday evening.

I should have room in the car for one more (Joliet to Chicago) Sunday evening. It will be 'tight' in the Civic... but I have done worse.
