I should be heading back before the 14th. Brilliant me, doesn't buy plane tickets until the absolute last moment.

How far is a "full pull"?

I can't remember the last time I watched a tractor show. :o

Full pull = 150' IIRC.
Last night the stock tractors were falling short of the line. The weighted sled sure does get heavy near the end.

Rumley oil pull = smokey. :P
Runs (and is cooled) with oil. To get it hot enough to fire the oil the coolant would steam off. So it is cooled with oil. :P

Full pull? LOL. Well that depends. you being JDM, I can't say much...

Will, a buddy of mine has quite a few hit and miss engines. The guy with the tractors has an Ice Cream business, it's called Old fashioned Home made Ice cream. So naturally he hooks up his hit and miss engines to an Ice Cream churn, and uses that. pretty neat concept too.

a "full pull" is when a tractor manages to pull the sled the full length of the course

except those ice cream curn's (with motor) (if he did not make them) are ~$2500 to $3500 each.

Poppin' Johnnie is there this weekend with his fleet of 4 makers. :P

I will stick to the kettle corn and ribeye samachies.

Anyone got a link for this "hit and miss" thing?

No no silly boy, I was refering to you making a "full pull" with yourself, and commenting on the JDMness of lil winkies...

Noob, hell your not even from the souf. You's from JDM land. How joo know about tractor pulls?

I know, I've seen a few on TV. That weight that moves closer to the tractor as it's going down the track, then see if it makes it or falls short.

I'm not JDM. I'd have to be from Japan to be JDM. ;)

I'm from Hawaii where we have our own brand of rednecks. They're probably some of the most ignorant people in all of America.

Anyway, I've seen more than a few monster truck shows and tractor pulls in my time in person. Watching them on TV, just isn't the same. :P

He actually makes them. Takes his "United" hit and miss motor, puts it onto a metal cart thing, then hooks up the engine to the churn bucked. Slows the churning through gearing. Since you know how they operate, you know when the ice cream is ready by how often the engine fires. When it gets tension, it fires more rapidly and thus meaning the "ice cream" is ready to be frozen. It comes out the consistancy of a milk shake.

You off of work today Pat? Roll down 49 (easier than flying in from Hi.). and turn right at Denton.

$12/day and the music (bluegrass) and tractor pull is included. It might be a 'little' bit hot today. Yesterday was fawking awful.

Your still JDM in my eyes.

I've been to the monster truck things a few times. It's a little boring to me though. Same thing year after year right along with the ATV show at half time. Now the supercross!!! I'll go there every year. The Supercross is bad ass.

Jup.. the hit and miss is the cycle of the piston. It takes two cycles to run (pull in/ fire/ then push out)

They sometimes (with the govener) take 4 or more cycles before they pop off another round. When they are under load they fire quickly and with much noise (if mufflerless). :P

You got it. When that thing starts going off, you know the stuff is ready. It really attracts a crowd at gatherings. There is a hit and miss show here in FL down in Avon Park (near Sebring) Every year they have all kinds of stuff. The last time I was out there, there was a hit and miss motor with a 40ft stroke. OMG that thing was huge. The piston was the size of my ITR.

That thing is ginormous...:P

I've never seen one that big. But out there in the land of good ol' boys, they make 4 wheelers out of them along with many other "toys"

It's pretty neat when they have it. Loads of odd shit.

They just installed a cotton press at the show grounds. I will take some more photos of it this evening.
They had to use a 150TN crane to set the last piece up top. :O

It makes some crazy pressure like 4.2 million PSI (force) using 150 psi of steam pressure.

I'm impressed. What comes out of people's minds sometimes ceases to amaze me. There will always be something different and untried.
