Reid wrote:When did you get the 764ti? Have you done any modifications to it?

One of my friends is crazy about Volvos of that vintage.
the 760 was picked up in Dec. of 04 and sat for a few months before I started working on it.
it was not running and the price was 'right'. 8)

my wife has driven it ~23,000 miles in a little over a year. 233,000 or so now.

a few trips to the junk yard and to P(os)1 for some parts she is running pretty good.

the car had a 'hard' life and has some drivetrain noises (LMAO).... but a spare B23FT block is in the garage waiting for a 531 head.

it rides so good.... pimp leather, a/c (143a converted), automajik, cruise, 7 band eq, abs.

mods:
-ipd 25mm front and rear bars
-poly syspension bushings up front
-OEM big brake kit up front (26mm thick rotor with single piston Lucas calipers)
-lower chassis braces

Not much has been dont to it... it took a little bit of work to get her running well:
-replace the engine wire harness
-new distrubitor
-all service items (cap,wires,t-belt,plugs,filters,etc.)
-front and rear brakes
-tires
-etc.

I dont know volvo's that well, just drove the piss out of it. Never had to worry about problems. It moved pretty good, sussy was ok, brakes worked well, and it looked good!

no track pictures uploaded... mostly old paper photos from Lowes, Road Atlanta, VIR.

Here is one of the '79 GT on track at CMP.

just about none... but I did put up a nice smoke screen out of every turn with one wheel peel.

a LSD is on the list of stuff to get.

the sad thing is at CMP for the 't0dd expo she was running crappy.
a little tlc and some parts = happy 242ti. :)

I need to crank the boost up a little and re-dyno her.
then rip off the mechanical fuel injection and step up to the 80's.

Your cars seem to be in surprisingly good condition compared to the Volvos I see around here. :o

Are good condition Volvos plentiful near you, or do you just find gems?

lmao... don't look close at the GT... the 'cancer' has a hold of that.

the 242ti is in great shape considering it has 311,000 miles.... the pass. side rear floor board need to be swapped out and the paint is faded.... but that can be fixed.

good condition units are here and there... but I lucked out on the 242ti (sold in London and shipped over). 2 door = sorta rare + factory intercooler = makes it very rare.

gems = just have to look for them :)
