- test and tune at Gingerman Wed?
I was planning on hitting up Gingerman as well, but with all the time I've had to take off dealing with this cracked piston / bent valve issue, I'm going to have to pull out of that event.
In other news, I was able to order a USDM B16 OE O/S piston from the wonderful folks at National Speed in Wilmington, NC courtesy of coolhandluke's phone campaign. It should be here 10:30am tomorrow and then will be mic'd shortly thereafter. If the piston does, in fact, fit the bill once measured, it'll be about 9 hours of work to finish up the car before Expo. Here's hoping everything goes well and I do get to drive on track!

Yeah they actually have my 4 81.25 b16 pistons in right now for my rebuild, more than likely you got one of those
It's all the same, I hope you can get it back up in time

Taken from my thread on TI:
And MOAR pictures....
Starting to pull the head...
Finding this made me want to commit suicide for a minute...
The piston, pulled out of the block...
Rod bearings...
Random shots...
Workin on the brake swap...
I like the shiny new calipers!
Cylinder head w/ bad exhaust valve installed...
Video of underside of car...
The plan for tomorrow:
1.) Receive piston at 10:30 AM -> measure -> swap onto rod if good measurement -> old bearings + new rings -> preload rod bolt stretch -> install tray, oil screen, & oil pan. (1 hour)
2.) Prep gasket surfaces, install IM onto head, mount head onto block (1 hour)
3.) Re-align the timing belt, cams, crank, etc. (1 hour)
4.) Compression test, mount turbo & exhaust manifold, drain & refill fluids, idle the car for 20 minutes -> change oil -> refill (1 hour)
5.) Re-do CV boots on driver's side axle (1 hour)
6.) Brake caliper swap & pad/rotor install (1 hour)
7.) Clutch pedal free play adjust & bleed (30 minutes)
8.) Turbo drain fitting repair (30 minutes)
9.) E-brake tension adjustment (30 minutes)
10.) Vibrant muffler rattle -> maybe pick up stiffer exhaust hangers
11.) Eliminate engine whine from speaker system
12.) Install oil temp gauge (time permitting)
13.) Bed in carbotech pads (time permitting, can always do in IL if needed)
So I have all of that plus I have to swap that one bent exhaust valve out and be up and at the office at 7am for my first meeting... Yeah, let's just say if the race car makes it to expo, it'll all be worth it!

FYI that speaker whine is probably a bad ground on your head unit. Save that stuff for Expo and I'l help you there. Best of luck with the piston/rest of install. I hope it works!

car aligned.
now rear drivers side suspension makes loud metal to metal noises when that corner hits a bump. nothing obviously wrong with it.
going to bring it back tot he place that did the alignment in a bit. might be related to that, or could just be a coincidence..

btw in case anyone has ever wondered.. yes it's very expensive to replace all the rear suspension bits, plus wheel bearings and all the bolts/washers/etc...

I felt that pain. It wasn't to that full extent, but it was pretty close.

Well I hate not having my tools here.
Turned out to be loose RTA bolts on the RTA bushing. guy had to have loosened them for some unknown reason when he did the alignment.

Well, I'm off to hopefully finish putting the motor back together... I've got about 6 hours of work before she'll be running (and that's IF she runs)...
In any event, I'll be heading out to Expo no later than 8am Friday, but I am shooting to leave tonight.
