yet another on the eFuse... Will not Brick the phone, but will only go into a Recovery mode or a BootLoop.

Seems to me, if you match the "signage" of an official ROM, you could get past the issue in the first place, no?

Today's press conference did not help me in my decision on whether to get an iPhone 4 or something else. I'm not really impressed with what phones AT&T has though. :( I looked at some sites that sell unlocked phones, but I really don't want to spend $400+ on a phone. Even then I wasn't really impressed. I'm not sure I want an Android phone, and not sure if the GSM Android phones available are even any good.

LOL, spend some time reading up on the Android stuff. I'm not trying to be that "salesman" guy... but honestly I've played with all the OS's out there, WinMo, iOS, Palm and Android with various versions of each.

Android is the most customizable to you. If your not into the customization, so be it and go with the iOS. But if you want to ROM, Theme, and modify the crap out of your phone you will not be able to do it on much else than the Android.

That, and the open source community behind the Android phones (including those that left Apple because of new regulation Mr. Jobs put on Iphone apps) is killer! Just visit the forum.xda-developers.com site and take a look around at the phones your intersted in. I'll sugguest the Developement sub-forum for each of the phones your looking at. Those are the ROM's the Devs are creating.

In short, with Android I can "feel" like I have a new phone/platform anytime I want. AND, it's all 100% reversable.

My problem with Android is I hear NOTHING about the Android phones AT&T has to offer. I hear a whole lot about phones such as the Evo, Droid X, the Incredible, yadda yadda, but the names of the phones AT&T has I don't recognize.

This is why Android scares me. This shit looks like Tawainese to me:
For the incredible owners, i rooted mine about a week ago using the sd card method and i got it first time with some old 1gb toshiba i had laying around. Then did the unrevoked2 method to flash roms. I flashed over the cm6 rom, it was a nightly build but it doesnt update on rom manager anymore... im also runnning a 1.15 kernal but i had to use the overvolt version, the undervolt kept rebooting. Its runs really smooth now though. On quadrant im hitting 1300's everytime. There is a sense froyo rom out there but i dont like sense and the way it can slow down the phone sometimes. Just personal preference i guess.

Maybe it's time to switch providers?

Sprint, in my case has an unlimited voice, data and text (1500 landline minutes, but who uses those) for $69.99/mo and $129.99 for 2 lines. They have the Hero and Evo. :)

Only reason I would ever see using AT&T would be for an iPhone.

<--- who left T-mobile for Sprint when he got his Hero after 12 years with T-mobile.

There's absolutely no reason you should be using Edge when doing anything other than making phone calls or texting. Thats like having a cable modem, but still using the 56k modem.
Sweet! So I can download 3G to my Blackberry Curve? Got a link?

I got to use both the HTC Incredible and Moto X tonight....the X is huge. The size of the Incredible seemed just about right. The X also had a better experience when surfing the web over the Incredible. The lack of non-landscape mode on the incredible was kinda a downer for me. The HTC blew the X out of the water with Google Maps though. It wasn't even close. Another plus for the Evo was the screen. The Incredible's screen had a blueish tint to it which I wasn't thrilled about. Both of these units were demo models so anything is possible and please take my comments with a grain of salt.

My decision? No clue...I may flip a coin tomorrow night.

Ryan, make a trip to Verizon? :)

You should be able to use landscape on any web browser, that is built into the OS. Using Sense, or whatever "home screen" app they use may or may not allow for Landscape (Hero by default is this way, but I'm running a ROM that allows for 270 degree rotation) Also, keep in mind the stock web browser too is not the best for these devices. I personally use Dolphin HD browser which also allows for tabbed browsing.

Glad your testing them however. :) LMK when your ready to make the jump.

We are getting a killer deal through work. $180 for either one, and that includes all taxes, shipping, etc. The question is which one. The only thing really holding me back from the X is the sheer size of it. I'm making a decision today/tonight and sending the email out to our procurement department with my answer.

My Incredible will do portrait or landscape mode in the default web browser. Maybe the demo model was messed up.

My blackberry is from work, they pay that bill. I can get an iPhone now, but I'd have to buy the phone. No thanks.

Play with it first. Moto's interface is taking some hits in the media. IMO, most of the shit they bitched about is a non-issue on HTC's version. The X is fuggin' huge, too.

I played with both Saturday. I liked the "sense" features from HTC. A key thing to note is everything I didn't like about either phone was software related except the X's size.

Not 100% on either phone at the moment...I have ~35 minutes before I decide. :P

Ryan, I still use sense now, but I'm looking at other options currently. I'll keep you posted.

<--- who is waiting for the final release from the dev's of "froyo" aka Android 2.2 :)

Sprint is not releasing it period for the Hero so I have to wait for the Dev's to finish building the final version. With 2.2, I don't know if they are going to port over Sense. May be forced to use something else for the time being in my case.

After seeing all of this time and thought you guys put into your phones I really do enjoy being a mindless iPhone user. Probably has something to do with the fact that regardless of my profession I've been using apple stuff at home the last 8 years.

I don't plan to tinker much with the phone outside of finally getting into the whole "app's" experience. I just want the phone to work. I'm a really bad IT nerd. When I come home the last thing I want to do is mess with electronics.

It's more of a hobby for some people i.e. Dave B.

Next June when the iphone is on Verizon we will all be figuring out how to make the switch.

I thoroughly enjoy all of the hootin' and ravin' over phones. Reminds me really of all the wicked AMD Vs. Intel Debates. Good times.

Funny thing is, my Moto RAZR is fine for me right now. That feels strange to say, since I'm a self-professed techno-geek, but I don't think I can get anything near 3G speeds in my area anyway.
