Technology Thread
Re: Technology Thread
Wifi Tether works sir. As does Root, 3 ROM's, I'll be testing Apps2SD this week (move apps from system memory, and run them completely on the SD card) and I have a few other things to try. You guys with the Android stuff need to start reading up here...

I don't think the Incredible's have been able to be rooted yet, or at least officially. Most others have however. I think it remains in the fact of the 2.1 Android OS. Even with mine, if I do the OTA update to 2.1, it's not been broken yet. But still on 1.5 and 1.6 I can load a custom ROM with 2.1 and still have all of the root functions.

Dave - here's one for you. On the Incredible, I'm hearing Skype only runs over the Verizon network, not wifi. We're going to Sweden in July, and it would kick ass to be able to use Skype over wifi to call home. Let me know if you see anything on that in your android studies.

I will find out for sure, but I don't see why you would only be limited to the Verizon network. What I'll do is install Skype on my phone, and test. I'd imagine what works on mine, will work on yours. I'm on a ROM for 2.1, so unless the official 2.1 ROM denies it, it should be one in the same.
Hrm, interesting. A buddy I work with has the Incredible and can see Skype in the market, myself on Sprint can't see it.

Looks like it's only on Verizon for now. Odd.
2nd Edit... Pat, your screwed...
http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid ... obile.html
Looks like you can't use Skype with WiFi enabled let alone use it on WiFi.
Last Edit, was designed that way. Maybe by the time you go to Europe someone will have cracked it.

Re: Technology Thread
Thanks, Dave. That's about what I figured, though I didn't realize Verizon was the only one offering Skype on androids. Typical bastard move for them, too, right up there my Razr would only charge over the official Motorola Razr charger until I hacked the fucker

Re: Technology Thread
Well, I hear rumors that this all might be changing and available to other users. And I hear there is another application that works with Skype you can use WiFi on and dial or use your Skype acct.

Skype works great on the iPad. WiFi or 3G.

So like this one Erik: http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-S ... 97&sr=1-20
I've had a few Canon DSLRs so I'm used to the menus and the modes, so a Canon probably would be a good choice.

Re: Technology Thread
Canon powershot's work well for simple p&s.
I've given mine to my wife since my purchase of my XTI.
This thing is like 5 years old and still took shots back then that I consider "decent":

Re: Technology Thread
Good eye. Similar construction, however the Cheoah Dam (Dam used in the fugitive) is just 10-15 miles away. Dam in picture is the Fontana Dam.itrsteez wrote:eric, is that the water dam from the Fugitive in the back of that picture?
