Do you think many people will track their cars in that count? I imagine we'll lose some east and midwest track participation simply due to the distance, even if the people still show up via flying. This is where the west coast will really need to step up.R00567 wrote:button willow = bad ass course , that will not disappoint!
D O P E!California would be so sick, and there is a F ton of ITR's guys if you post this in their local foums and let them know. i think the regular expo crew + the cali peeps would be a 50+ car turnout easy!

I agree with this fully. I think the concept of it sounds cool but once it came down to it people would be dropping like flies. The west coast participation is a HUGE gamble, but you might get some future diehards out of that group. So it's hard to say.cheezthis wrote:
I'm all for a trip to California, but I want to make sure this will work for the event's best interests. It could be a huge year, or it could slip us from our current high of this past year's event, where we had over 200 people there (no idea on final count honestly).
The potential is obviously there, especially with HPD's participation.
I'll belief it when I see you at Expo, trackin'! ZING-BAAAH!R00567 wrote:and to R box i dont hard park so GTFO
Yeah, we should really post this "Expo 11 in Cali" idea in some of the West coast forums, like NOW, to gauge their interest, otherwise, we'll probably just get alot of people saying they'll go "if it's official", but not really committing. Sorry to "rat on" my own coast, but, well...cheezthis wrote:Do you think many people will track their cars in that count? I would SO go to an Expo at CMP! HAHA - I've hung out there a few times while you hookers tracked and I was always itchin' to take a car out!itrsteez wrote:Or you can have it at CMP and have $150 registration feeskidding, I don't want to open up the can of worms.
During Expo, you don't really have to worry about your car - unless you go off and park somewhere by yourself or something. There's always SO many cars, or people awake and milling around, or (if the track allows it), you can leave it parked at the track and hitch a ride with somebody else to the hotel - like I did one night this year, simply because I was lazy, haha.turbohf wrote:just curious as i have never been to an EXPO... but how does security work? i would really not like to have my R in socal for 2 days lol.
This is for willow springs, not button willow. And it will take much more than 50 cars to make it a success. I do love the idea of RTR cars and HC.R00567 wrote:button willow = bad ass course , that will not disappoint!

Expo is not just a random track event like those others. Honestly the track time is the smallest part of Expo for me. Thats why a trip like this does not compare at all with going to a closer track for less money. It's not about the track time. (that's just a bonus).itrsteez wrote:
Honestly the more and more I think about it I don't think I could justify the trip. For the highway miles and travel time needed I could hit barber, road america or the glen on separate occasions and still have hours/miles to spare. Not trying to be a debbie downer, but I think when it came down to registration time and wasn't a pipe dream anymore it would then seem rather unrealistic for me personally. Maybe perhaps if there were dates at infineon/laguna/miller (on the way there or way back) that a few of us could hit then the scales would be tipped a lot if two birds could be killed with one stone.

I've heard it but never seen it. Would provide much lulz.Bradstard wrote:I've heard that the Hertz Corvette's and Mustang's have GPS modules in them and if they notice a car doing a track event they will send a remote shutdown to the car. Any validity to this?
I don't see how anyone would opt for anything other than a focus after our demonstration @ Expo.itrsteez wrote:I've heard it but never seen it. Should be safe with a PT Cruiser.
I appreciate what i would consider a very honest and much needed response. Everyone is still very excited from EXPO in July, and this is very understandable. However, you must ask yourself if you are willing to undertake a major roadtrip. Each and every one of us needs to evaluate a significant set of questions that you have not probably had to think about pre other EXPOs. While i too am very excited about the opportunity, i would challenge each of you to answer the following very carefully.....itrsteez wrote:R00567 wrote:

I give much credit for thinking outside the box, I don't need to spew out a negative sounding post but after I had a few days to stew the idea I stopped liking it as much. I'm just glad you guys decided not to stop at 10.

Many of you are extremely dedicated to this community and this event, we know this. However, this consideration should be taken very very seriously. We volunteer our time to try and make this event very special each and every year, and we know how much each and every one of you appreciates that. Without you guys this event does NOT take place, and because of that we are forced to evaluate this idea with extreme care. With that being said, if you are going to reply YES I WILL BE THERE, please understand that you as an individual could make or break this idea from being a success.
We appreciate everyone's continued support and look forward to reading additional responses. Do not be afraid to speak up/out with concerns or legitame questions you guys have. If you have suggestions, this is also the time to speak up. We are not going to flame or make fun of anything said, so ask away if you all have questions.

I agree that Expo isn't all about the track time - that's just bonus "play time with friends" hahaErik95LS wrote:Expo is not just a random track event like those others.
