End result...no reason to be 150mph anyway.
Like George said, there aren't any tracks that you'll get that high.

I already said that its not safe and should not be done on a public road, ever.
However, please don't throw around figures if you're not sure or can't confirm it. Theoretical or not. (most people said 'indicated' speed from their own examples, im not talking about that kinda stuff) This is just an example of all this i heard/i think stuff that spreads like wildfire

BTW - I updated that spread sheet on HAN. and here's a link to it too:

We have gone off in a wild tangent and did not answer neo's question.
Do you guys and gals think we could try to stay on topic?
I'd guess the wing helps stability but does introduce a bit of drag, probably necessary to keep the car down. But now I'm talking way out of my league so i'll shut up.
IMHO you will notice a dramatic increase in aerodynamic instability over about 145.
However, any number of racers will tell you that I'm just scared.

Great post!! Thanks for the info Chris.
And to get back on track, I think your computer has something to do with it. And next time leave your "friend" on the side of the road while you go out and set some records.
We have all done stupid shart in our lives, regardless if you do it again or not, dont involve someone else in your critical life decisions. One thing I thought was funny that we all said that these were deserted roads, was there a sign saying flying type R on the road do not enter? I have tapped out many cars (some legally on the autobahn) I wont lie and say there is nobody on the road, there was. I dont do it anymore, I nver hurt anyone by doing it, and I thank god that nothing ever went wrong. Maybe I just have never been on a road where there was no one on it for more than a minute or two.
I'm not talking crap just think its funny how we portray things after we have done it.

I'm sure of it.
Do you think, if the body of the car was better designed for high speeds (so the wing was not necessary, for the sake of conversation), that the removal of the wing would not only help increase acceleration (talk to willard and drag racers about wing vs no wing with trap speeds AND mpg, so i know it has an affect) but also lower the drag on the car?
It's a moot point, I'm sure, due to how unstable the car is to begin with at those speeds, I'm sure removing the wing would make the rear end VERY floaty even in a straigh line.

So I was correct in my statement that at about 7900RPM's I hit 150MPH. Guess my speedo ain't far off.
As for the spoiler stability statement/question. I will tell you this...
The R was pretty stable at that high speed. I am sure the spoiler had ALOT to do with it. My old 5th Gen Civic coupe was unstable at a little over 100MPH. I am sure the whole chassis on the R helped, but the spoiler kept the ass planted and not swaying around like my old Civic did.

stock gearing, stock redline, stock final drive... 165mph? Are you sure? I've never herad this, ever.
You are right. Not that anybody's listening to me.

No I wasn't sure, and 157.9 == "like 165"
A side note,
8400 157.9
implies
8600 161.7
Yes. I was wrong about the speed at redline, by a few percent. The stock gears will get you to 161.7 with the OEM fuel cutoff though, which is a little closer though.

Actually 157.9=="like 160MPH" lol

Maybe its just me.....but i hit 120 mph last night on the interstate in a very flat open spot where you can see and see and see forever, and even with those conditions i still slowed way down very quickly. I suppose if you have the type of accidents that i did its kinda like gettin thrown off a horse and not wanting to ride again you know. Unless on a track i dont usually ever find myself doing more then 100 or so. Its not that i dont trust myself, but you have no control of what others could do at any moment, not to mention animals as well. Be safe out there guys!

it only implies that if we aren't drag limited.

I know that 80mph on my speedo = 77mph on my GPS (stock everything), so it would seem the speedo reads a bit high.

Iv done 155mph in my R w/AEM CAI... with 3 passengers.

I hit the cut-off (8900 rpm) in 5th gear one time. All stock except 205/50/15 tires and a cold air intake. I could'n see the speed because the speedo stops at 240 km/h but I saw a picture on internet that shows exactly the same as I did and it's 256 km/h. I've got to find it...

The top sped that I had my 2000 ITR (completely bone stock w/ my 250 lb fat *ss driving on a deserted e-way @ 4am) was 145. The tach would not go past 8000. I was on a flat highway w/ no wind (Ohio is 95% flat anyway). I held it to the floor for about 2 miles (which at 145 mph does not take long) and when I saw that was about all it would give, I backed it down to the legal limit. Now it is almost 2006 and I can count on one hand the amount of times that the car has ever seen 90 mph. I fully agree w/ Budman......don't get killed (or kill someone else) just for bragging rights. Always remember.....speed doesn't kill.......stupidity does. We want you all to show up at Expo 6. Can't do that in a box.
