The OT place for OGs to BS w/o BS.
WTF is right? I dunno how I did that... LOL
Nah, not so much that really.
I suppose you fools it wouldn't really matter...
Basically, I'm taking the brand new route (after long thought and deliberation, I needed a head, then acid tanking and so on and so on the $$$'s figure kept getting higher)
Now I'll have my spare head (and when you buy dealership long blocks, they are not mated) so when I get it, the head goes straight out to Dover Cylinder head (locally acclaimed Honda head shop) to be reshaped and P&P stage 2. At that time I'll install the bumpsticks (cams for those who don't know old terms) and springs (supertech) along with the cam gears (Skunk2 pro 6 bolts)
That almost completes the head for now...
As for the block... JDM P30 pistons will be installed (thought about the forged custom route long and hard, but trying to save pennies here and there)
Other misc stuff include Hondata IM gasket, Hondata S100 plus tuning, Excedy FW and clutch
Things that I WILL be doing down the road...
SMSP header
Hytech exhaust
Import Builders Extrude hone the IM
Tapper the TB
4.9 FD
Carbon Syncro's
I'm sure I've forgotten a few things, like FPR and injectors...
I'm trying to get around 210 usable WHP.
Fixed... er sorta... LOL

You gotta learn to swim some how.Doespike wrote:LMFAO!!!! If I'm gonna get in the game, might as well jump in the deep end of the pool
Reasoning for this...
I already have the head stuff and planned on the P&P anyway.
I needed to purchase a head to make this process easier (minimal down time, still have spare engine for track car)
So really, in going this route I'm only spending around $500 more than the other route and have NEW stuff.
Me thinks so...Doespike wrote:Sounds good mang! Yeah, I hear ya on $$. Comes a point where you may as well start with brand new parts. Prolly better in the long run.
I found a head for $550 but no cams nor valves. So I didn't mind the cams (already have a set) but the valves are not cheap, even at the shops cost.
PLUS... with this new stuff... I'll have NEW parts to sell. LOL
Brand new, 0 mile cams, cam gears, ITR valve springs...
So in the long run it will be better, yes.
so you have opened a can of worms....
endless tinkering with the engine and associated issues.
if i did it again.. bolt ons, tune, never crack the head off. ever. once it needed seals and whatnot, i'd put honda stuff back in and be done with it.
not a lot of success stories out there imo, just endless fucking toying and troubles.
not wishing bad... just that kinda stuff isn't for me. i enjoy the driving so much and i really like the power to weight ratio.. everything about the car is so great as it is. just imo

Tell me about it... It's a never ending cycle with me, that's for sure... LOLChris N wrote:so you have opened a can of worms....

But, at least I have the shop so tinkering is made easier. Besides, what else is a midge to do, join the freak show?
FWIW... this setup will NOT be staying in the car, in the long run. Most likely it will go in a hatch at some point for DD purposes when FBP comes off the street. Then the darkside will happen until it too pops. Then... Sell it all and move on. At least that's the long term plan. I'm not married, no kids (of my own yet) so I'm playing now, do the fam thing later. Case in point, the current GF (where the kids come into play) has advised she likes the PY better than my FBP. She also advised (after the CMP, WTDR event) that I'm not allowed to sell that car, only upgrade/replace it.
She actually completely understands and is all for all of this. Then the old man "persuades" me to keep going. I have it bad... I have his genes. Sucks... But oh well. LOL

Yah, I'd pro'lly geek for a Spoom motor. Basically a stock B18c5 further blueprinted. Bolt it in, fire it up.Chris N wrote:so you have opened a can of worms....

You'll have it in, but ja' still have to tune it, etc.Dave_B wrote:Winter? LOL, I'll have the new long block in a few weeks. Without downing my car, I can have it done and installed before Christmas... That's the goal at least.
Midget needs no more playing with said winky... lady stated above takes care of that nicely.
(The car not Mr. Winky).

True. I need to talk to said tuner and find out his schedule.
The way I look at this though, is it's evolving. Instead of bitting off a big chunk, I'm just trading what I have. Short block FS, SW388's, that's almost all of what I need right there. Few other odds and ends, and I could end up doing this for no money out of pocket, just giving up what I have. I dunno... I like change...

Good luck. Always seems to cost me a bit more than planned.Dave_B wrote:LOL...98 CW ITR 322 wrote:You'll have it in, but ja' still have to tune it, etc.Dave_B wrote:Winter? Of course, once I A) sell the S2000 and B) get a replacement for it, I'll have a project to tinker with and break too.
of course, it won't be a stinkin honda..
