Rob... I've had the same thing happen to me (twice actually)

Once was that large guy we all know... Jim... Left my wallet on the rear bumper of the Pathfinder at CMP... drove off.

He called and called ( no reception ) but I didn't answer until about 100 miles later... then he Over nighted it to me for nothing.

Second was more random... was found while I was in HS... was at a party and had about $200 in it cash. Got a call 2 days later and she... yes SHE met me.

Nice to know there are still folks like that in the world.
