Some of the apps that are pre-loaded with the OS are required for the phone to operate correctly. If they are deleted, they cannot be redownloaded.user wrote: If you aren't using an app then remove it. This goes for all the preloaded applications from Sprint. You can increase performance by making memory available to load the actual stuff use.

Re: Technology Thread
And they will brick your phone. It has already happened at our office.
Re: Technology Thread
B-rad, you asked about Battery life, I just found a new "thing" today. For Sense UI based ROM's there is an Overclocked, Under Volted kernal.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705074
I'm sure with enough time, they will be doing things like this on the Droid X. The Hero has been out now for over a year.
And I ROR'd (Raff out Raud) on this one...
Lastly, Ryan and Brad read up on this link/forum...

Seems like a bad idea to me... but the purpose is so you can text and drive at the same time. Darwin award there!User wrote: nfinitefx45 now also has a "road sms" which is a keyboard that works with your camera so you see whats in front of you while texting/typing. Pretty cool, should check it out. Same link as posted above. It will be in the first post to the ROM topic.

Re: Technology Thread
After installing SetCPU this morning and slowing the clock way down I have noticed a HUGE difference in battery performance. It is now 4:00pm and after being off the charger for 9 hours with bluetooth on all day and a wifi 3g hotspot for an hour, I'm still at 70% battery life. :borat voice: GREAT SUCCESS
Re: Technology Thread
LOL, glad those things are working out for you sir.
Did you set the SetCPU to underclock while screen off and OC while screen on? Then Set On Demand for the proc scaling?

Re: Technology Thread
Yep, I also setup profiles for limiting the CPU based on battery %'s left. IE when I hit 30% battery left, it will only scale up to 300mhz instead of 1000mhz. Honestly, with it running at 300mhz I can not see a difference in performance either.

Re: Technology Thread
ditto. I went a step further and setup a profile that limits the CPU to 300mhz when ever the screen is off. I have also turned off data usage for social applications, gmail, weather, etc (on demand only), and turned down the screen brightness to just above the lowest setting. The screen is still easily visible and I can't tell a difference in viewing. I have been toying with it randomly in my spare time so I can't remember all the small changes I'v made.Bradstard wrote:Yep, I also setup profiles for limiting the CPU based on battery %'s left. I did read those links you posted today. I'v turned off the auto-task kill (just turned it on this morning) and will make a point to not kill the applications. I won't be able to tell a difference in battery because of the other changes (per say) but I am going to try to avoid closing applications and see how much of a difference all of these changes make. (per say)

I'm not a big PC gamer but from what I've heard you've got to have a nice set-up to play BF2 seamlessly.itrsteez wrote:I actually threw BF2 back on my win partition and zoned out for a few hours this weekend, it was amazing.

SetCPU is so far the biggest benefit to rooting my phone. I'm just trying to save battery life.

There isn't much for me to do on an iPhone to save battery, but I've found some apps that make life so much easier on the phone.

Re: Technology Thread
Yes, my co-worker Chris rooted mine and Brads. I'm a bad IT nerd when it comes to non-work stuff. I just want things to work, hence why I'm buying another MBP.

I don't mess with anything at home, work tires me out from that. I've never jailbroke any of my iPhones and have been using mac's for the past 8 years at home.
Oh and PS if you get a new MBP then get a i5 or i7, they scream.

My bro in law's girlfriend just bought a 6-7k Apple laptop. Which one would that be? Supposedly has like a Tb of HD?

Bullshit, even if you build one to max factory specs you're not breaking 4k. And that's with a 512gb SSD and 8gb of ram.
