You're in luck, I happen to be an antenna designer. First, ignore the midget. He don't noe squat. You an't put onre in a pillar, LOLz! Hidden= in glass. If it's a DD and you might have future use for GPS, I'd go with a roof mount "puck." Most of these are multi-band and handle cellular, GPS, sat. radio and FM. What do you want to use it for and how close are you to local FM stations? I screwed in a Perrin stubby in place of my stock Evo ant. and was very pleased with the range. In the same hole as stocker, I'd say go with the S-2K stubby. If you're in the sticks, a 31" (1/4 lambda) FM
tuned. Do a search, I think I went over this with ludite Bbasso last winter.
Got a link? I have found some for cheap but am unsure of the quality.
I could getcha a link but whaddya need? GPS, FM, cellular? sat. radio?

I've got it in both cars, but have been tempted to cancel it for the R... but it IS nice to have for road trip to Expo, etc.....

Yeah I'm not gonna tell you to go buy something that won't work. If you're 100km from the city, I wouldn't go with a "hidden system," best would be to plug the hole with a S-2000 ant. If you're closer than 60 miles, something like this will suffice.
http://www.ecklerscamaro.com/product.as ... pt_id=2214
Note that; "For best reception, the adhesive-backed antenna body must be unobstructed by metal. It's typically mounted to the top inside of the windshield or on the rear window/package shelf area."
These dipole designs don't need a metal ground plane below them, (like a stick or omni in the center of the roof) but tend to be more directional.

Like I said.
Is the new s2k antenna better? The original one is horrible.

I'd guess that the S2k whip about equals an unamplified dipole. That's why I'm trying to find out how far he is from the stations.

My city is less than 20 miles wide and I live in the city limits. I am not really worried too much about sound quality. If I am listening to the radio it is probably on AM or CD. I really want to get away from the external antenna altogether. I've never been a fan of the S2K version.

Is that a digital tuner or FM modulated? Right now I've got digital tuners that connect right to the head units, so extra crap on the dash.

yeah, he's still completely missing the "non exterior" part, no matter hw many times it's been said. That type that I showed you will do exactly what you want and get's pretty good reception, even way out in the boonies. Plus it's only $8-12 total and you can have it tomorrow.

I couldn't find any snaps without Timberlake
FM modulator, but in the interest of full disclosure, it's more painful than it used to be. Apparently the older units were too powerful, and the FCC made them tone it back. So instead of just slapping the antenna on and tuning the radio, you have to use this little clip-on jobby (not included
) if you have a fixed antenna, or an "in-line" plug (google XM Direct Connect). Also not included
Also has line out for use with tape deck, or if your deck happens to have RCA inputs (not sure if any do), you could use that.
