I'm sure the google one will trump appleTV by a landslide... this should be in teh tech section so we can quit talking about gay cell phones.coolhandluke wrote:I'm waiting for a decent unit to be released. Iphones haven't been mentioned in a while.itrsteez wrote:this should be in teh tech section so we can quit talking about gay cell phones.
Sony had a nice one a few years ago...well, it was a nice start at least.coolhandluke wrote:I'm waiting for a decent unit to be released. The Apple unit has always been very under-development IMO. I don't understand why a full-blown media center unit hasn't already been released.

Get any good pictures?beastnatch wrote:Just got back from a 5-day trip to the Redwoods (in the Pilot). It doesn't look like I missed too much around here...just a page of gayness to chuckle at. That's a crazy tall flower Piotr!
That's a strong point. I read something similar a year ago when I was pricing out building a media center box for recording TV. I ended up buying a refurb'd Tivo for $69 instead.cheezthis wrote:Sony had a nice one a few years ago...well, it was a nice start at least.coolhandluke wrote:I'm waiting for a decent unit to be released. The big hold-up has been from the content providers, especially places like Comcast. They like the control they have with you using their DVR boxes (or TiVo boxes currently) because saving those recordings to another media is very very tricky.
It sucks, but I like companies like ATT, where their U-Verse is IPTV and a good direction to take the industry.
It's inevitable that some nice media centers will show up, but it's like fighting oil/auto industry on fuel efficient/alternative fuel vehicles.
My wife and I got some decent ones. One of our friends that we went with has all the professional equipment. They're going to send us a dvd once he gets around to sorting through them all. If I have time soon, I'll toss some on photobucket. Mid 80's in the sun, low 70's in the shade. Couldn't have asked for better weather for hiking.Bradstard wrote:Get any good pictures?beastnatch wrote:Just got back from a 5-day trip to the Redwoods (in the Pilot). PS3 is an awesome machine. They had OTA HD tuners with DVR overseas with it, and there's talk of doing something here...coolhandluke wrote:That's a strong point. If Apple/Sony come out with a decent produce I'l buy it. My PS3 is mainly a media center box. I just use it to pull movies/tv from my HDD and play it to my tv.
I'v really enjoyed my purchase so far. My tivo subscription expires at the end of September and I just haven't been watching much TV lately so I'm not sure if I want to keep it. It could be my configuration, but it has never worked they way I program it to in terms of keeping shows/races etc. I would prefer a media center box with a better interface to handle my DVR needs.cheezthis wrote: PS3 is an awesome machine. Sony and Apple both have potential goldmines to build from, and Microsoft will too with their next venture.
I've been using my PS3 as a media client with most stuff being hosted on a network ubuntu machine with mediatomb.
I'm sure you pay a good chunk for the truck. I pay under 600 a year for jeep civic and integra.Bradstard wrote:In South Carolina you have to pay property taxes on your vehicles every year (this includes your DMV plate fee). I just had to pay the taxes on my truck and noticed my wife's van was due also. I logged in to the county website and pulled up my vehicle tax record for the years 2001 through 2010. I was SHOCKED to see what I have paid in TAXES alone on my vehicles over the last 9 years....$7,740.12!!!!! WOW!!!! That's $860 per year or $72 per month in taxes alone!
