It's not about nice, I'm taking into account all the ITR guys who want it in Cali. They don't want to travel far away.
The track is fast, sick elevation changes and its where I can get most of my guys to come out especially the Washington and Oregon dudes.
I'm like one of the few who would travel, if it wasn't for the date change last year I would have been out on the road.
I know there are a lot of tracks to visit and I will visit them eventually but this is a group, not just me.

Thunderhill has always liked pretty crazy with the elevation in videos, that's for sure.
That new track for F1 in Austin would be awesome. Centrally located, elevation, fast...maybe a bit dangerous

I don't know what you want me to say Scott but I'm sure you have talked to most of them since your at the track more than me. That is what they have said to me year in and year out.
I will be attending the ITR track meet and the meet and greet, and I will be asking them about Expo like I do every year to see what they say. The ITR guys and non ITR guys. I hope you will be there at both of the meets so you can help me get these guys to go where ever it may be at.

I cannot wrap what brain I have left around the fact that WC people won't travel further east than Nevada. It reallys makes me not want to see or support an event that would be in CA. I know, I know, that there are a few that would travel and of course the AZ crew travels well but then......

I know I'm fairly new here and all, but I thought I'd mention this.
When Team-Integra held the Dragon run this year, we had people coming from all over the country; Texas, Kansas, Florida, even two people from California. Now I know two from California doesn't seem like a lot, but event like the Dragon Run and ITR expo are one of those once-in-a-lifetime things in my opinion, or at least once a year if you're into the scene.
When Expo was held in Joliet this year, many of us Illinois folk gladly drove the two hours to get to Autobahn to drive the event. Likewise, if the event was held in California, I'd think people would expect the same courtesy, just as if the event was being held anywhere else.
In my opinion, events like this are something you make the drive for because you want to, not because it's convenient that year. If we do this in California, let's do it right, not half-ass it.
I hope I'm not out of line by saying that.

That theory doesn't work in the state of California. They only drive for parking lot car shows, Lakers games, and shitty new-release superficial-Hollywoodland movies. That theory works everywhere else in the country, and we have ITR members from more than half the states in this great country to back that statement up.
California spokesperson himself:
YellowKahuna wrote:It's not about nice, I'm taking into account all the ITR guys who want it in Cali. They don't want to travel far away.
He's suggesting that not everyone in the state of California would be willing to drive if its held at Buttonwillow (based on real conversations with Cali ITR owners, he says), because there's some sissies up north, and down in Shit Diego that won't
want to drive that far, and Thunderhillrapeyourwallet would be a better compromise for all the [novice run group] schoolgirls in California, who wouldn't show up anyways even if we catered it specifically to every single California member and asked them each individually, if we were to feed them ourselves with a silver spoon, and request that we turn over all decision making control to California ITR 'peeps'. If this was a dilapidated tacky fake-ass Vegas casino, I'd put all my money on California's preferring to attend a parking lot penis festival, over Expo 11.

Ha, I have no idea. Jon D and Chris N will be heading up the sponsorship stuff this year. I think after things are hammered out with HPD, Acura, the track, and such, we'll have a better idea. The breakfast this past year was awesome though.

Haven't been on here in a while, just checking back to see what was going on with Expo in Cali. I'm out if it, too expensive and I can't take a week off work to do it. My vote is for Mid-Ohio, Heartland Park, MAM, or even something on the east coast.

If I remember correctly its around 93dB.
Depending on the day, it can be as low as 87dB.
Either way, a bone-stock ITR is rated at ~92dB if I remember right.

Would you make it to Mid Ohio for a non-expo? I'm sure we could get a bunch of people to go again, especially if Expo goes to California.

Why I'd like to do something on the west coast...
http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=142760
Not that we'd have that kind of treatment, but anything like that would be kind of cool to see. I don't think Honda will do a refresh program on a bunch of Integras though

The potential for a west coast event is there. The biggest problem that i see is a lack of support from the community itself....
I completely understand that there are great tracks all around the country that we would all like to drive. but Lets not forget that it was the committee that first brought the idea of a west coast event. Every time a california track is mentioned it is immediately insulted and disregarded by everyone.
Clearly everyone has their pre set judgments about california and how much we all suck. you all obviously dont want to come here...
I say let the committee do its job and find a location that best suits the community as a whole. But please keep the bashing to a minimum...
its funny if you go back to the first few pages and read all the positive things everyone had to say about a west coast expo. Now that they have had time to think about how much time, money and effort goes into a cross country road trip and track event the views have changed.
and people still wonder why there isn't a strong west coast presence.
CHEEZTHIS,
You still have my contact information and if there is anything else i can do to help i'm more that willing.

^^^^ I believe most of us can understand why West coast does not come all they way to the East coast for EXPO, I don't believe that is where the issue is. The East coast does not prefer to drive across the nation to make only ONE state happy especially with the possibility that the state itself will hardly participate. Why would "we" want to make that drive without having a solid reason, it is completely unpractical and unnecessary. There are a pleuthra of Great tracks on the East coast that we can have it at and have as much fun if not more than some of the Cali tracks; without having to risk being stuck over a 1000+ miles from home all while taking off additional time of work/school and away form loved ones. I can say I never supported a West Coast Expo, if Cali people wanted a big annual track day, they could easily host a event and have enough "cars" to make it an event. (Not that I'm saying go against Expo). For the few people who did drive from the West coast to EXPO 10, we treated them great, and thanked them for coming out repeatedly, so there is not any animosity directly towards the West coast cars.

Good points from the both of you... but for the sake of argument can we not refer to all other states that aren't california as "east coast"? I'm absolutely all for mid west tracks, granted most may be closer to the atlantic than the pacific but it's still a compromise.
Not saying any party is more deserving than the other but even if you did cater to the CA crowd and brought it to their backdoor how many people do you think it would recruit as diehards to travel for E12? I would hope that it would change the mentality that California is the only state in the union for even 1/10th of the attendees, but I personally question it.
