I got a new camcorder this weekend. I originally got a Samsung HMX H205, but it was DOA. I returned it and upgraded to the Canon HF M31. Looks like it'll be a good in car camera. I'll get a chance to test it out this week on vacation.

Scared of heights? Check out a dish one of our tech's installed recently. Hate to drop a wrench over the ledge. Murder someone.

So I downloaded and setup OrbLive on my Droid. Pretty cool that I can access all of my pictures, MP3's, and videos off of my home PC. Now I just need to fix my shitty 300k upload speed of my DSL.

Component video though? That's a drawback, but understandable due to everyone crabbing about HDCP over HDMI/DVI (everyone = content providers).

That OrbLive is amazing me as I continue to use it. I'm ordering a tuner card for it today so I can stream live TV as well. No need for a Slingbox or EyeTV with this. You can even share your media with friends too! http://www.orb.com

If you get an Orb account, I grant you access to my stuff through your account.

Tasker is a hilarious app. While at lunch a coworker set it up to send a text every 2 minutes to another coworker sitting next to him that states "iphone sucks ass." It was intense trying to keep a straight face. The iphone guy kept google searching "duplicate texts from android phones" and kept coming up for reasons as to why the droid was screwed up.

Definitely one of those you had to be there to enjoy it kinda things.

OK so it's 2pm. I've used my X lightly and i'm at 50% battery. I get horrible service in my office (basically on the first floor of a huge bldg that's in a real low valley). So I wonder if it's really stressing the battery searching for signal. It's basically at one bar the whole time and will lose it every now and then.

Or does this sound about right?

Yep. "Cell Standby" is always the highest-ranked battery user on my DInc. Not sure what Motos will show, but in About, Battery, Battery Use I can drill in and see details about the cell radio. So far today I'm at ~13 1/2 hours off the charger, 70% battery left, 5% no signal on cell radio. I was down in the lab for an hour or so today.

There are tricks that will keep the radio from searching/roaming too much when you're traveling, not sure what you can do when you're always on your home network. You could always set it to airplane mode if you have wifi in the building. I'd get three days out of mine when we were in Sweden, thanks to airplane mode/wifi only.

Hmm airplane mode and wifi only sounds like a winning combo. I might have to try that out.

Root it and run SetCPU. That made a huge difference for me.

One would argue that shouldn't have to root a phone. :P

^Nice.

p.s. I'm in a dilemma. Not sure if I'm a fan of the anti-glare screen protector I put on it. Anyone else use it? Does dim the screen a good amount making the nice resolution/colors of the phone kind of pointless...

Downloaded ATK. Seems to be helping. Also changed my display timeout from 1 minute to 15 seconds. I'm seeing a drastic change in battery consumption. It's almost 2pm and I'm still in the green.

Ahhhhh... but one would also argue not to modify a Type R.
