Right on. I know what ur saying but only in the instance you listed above would it help me at this point....Dave B wrote:That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is some shots you want to capture, the camera will not pick up on what your trying to do and thus force you to take the pics in manual mode. This has happened to me several times. The camera does see what I'm trying to focus on and doesn't have a focal point.
As far as picture quality between the 2, they should be pretty close if the settings are there.

FWIW That night pic of the tree was taken with a 13 second shutter and ISO 800 IIRC. You should take your camera out tonight and try it.
I'm going to try to get some sunset pics tonight.
