yeah it does suck!!! i work in DC so i rememeber looking out at my R around midnight, looked again at 2 and POOF it was gone. what a fuk'd up feeling. it was clean, sup'd up with nice after market parts, oil changes were all mobile one. i kept up with it, ya know. ahhhh what can ya do. not sure if i should get another R since it wouldn't be the same. i know the R's are nice but i luv'd my ride so much i feel like i can't replace it. maybe i'm just still down about it and in time i'll overcome it. i'll def let ya know the outcome if and when they find my ride.

thanks,

-j

List of some after market parts that were on my ride just in case someone is trying to get rid of some quickly. You never know...

Tanabe Racing Medalion Exhaust
3-2-1 DC Sport Headers (Ceramic)
AEM Cold Air Intake
Crane (RED) Spark Plug Wires
Aftermarket Front Lip
Piaa Bulbs all the way
Clear Corners

Also, a 97 comes with the leather shifter but I changed it in 2001 with the new titanium shifter.

Thanks again,

-j

Just received a call from my insurance letting me know the PG County Police (Maryland) picked up my R yesterday. We still don't know where it is yet, insurance is looking into it. More updates to follow...

the Type-R i'm driving now was stolen before. I dont' know who the previous owner was. Since I've owned it, I've been very careful with it...but even so, there've been countless atempts to steal it.

Advice to all, use the Auto-Loc, and a GOOD alarm. Park in very populated areas (lots of eyes), and if you park it in your garage or ur driveway, park another car behind it. But no matter what, if they reallyx want it, they'll get it...

That suck

what did PGC police find out anyway on your car? I know the feeling living in N.Va. My car was stolen in front of my house around Sept. They stole my car only to leave it a block away. Enough time to take my 2 front seats, my ecu, my front struts, valve cover, ripped open my steering column, steal my cds, my soocer cleats, opened all covers to fluids (ex. oil cover, power steering, so,so). Fairfax County still to these day have no clue. Also at the same time the cop was filing a report a call was made that they found a supped up celica at Springfield Mall stripped. What you might want to look into is Vertex or NU Image. They have a reputation of being kinda shady. I heard that PW county raided a house full of hispanics and about 30 b-series engines in the back garage. Radley Acura had to flush my entire engine and order all new parts from Florida. It took them like a week and a half to fix it. Still, it's not the same as it was before. The steering is hard and the clutches are all fucked up and the antenna won't go down unless I smack the top with something flat. Don't fix it, just buy another one or get a WRX or the EVO 8. I can't sell my car yet cause I still owe on it and plus now I have a stolen/recovered title on it. Your insurance might want to fix cause it would be cheaper for them to fix than give you the value of your car.
sorry dude, later

Bummer mate!!!!!! I almost had mine stolen ('97 #30) in Portland,OR last year at this time. My friend heared the alarm go of and I ran outside naked to try and catch the criminal. They had slim jimmed a door, but the alarm had scared them off. Good thing as SIG-SAUER protects me and my car. I know what you mean:it's impossible to replace an R. Mine was vandalized in Oct. of 2001, and the repair shop is still trying to match the plastic parts. If you have to get a STi WRX when they come out this year. I have a 2002 CTR in Germany, and it's just as fine, and it's got 6 perfect gears. It needs 7. If you are interested in obtaining a CTR to replace the ITR i will set you up with my dealership in Germany. Best of Luck and hope it's either undisturbed(YA RIGHT!!!!) or totalled....so you can replace. I'd wish Japan would send us the DC3R, as I would go out and get one once they where driven off the boat. Shawn

yo thanks for all your replys. that was some funny shit about running out but naked..lol i can see myself doing some shit like that!! about the shady business in fairfax and springfield, i know. they have a bad rep for doing shit like this!! as of now, i'm going to see my ride tomorrow. all the guy told me at the towing yard was...."do i have full insurance"?? my reply was, "whats missing"? all he could tell me is what the paper work said since he didn't see it...."engine and transmission gone" =( tomorrow is going to be a sad day, i would rather not see it but i know i have too. i'm going to be taking some video and pictures. all i can say about PG county police department is there rude as shit!! they made me so heated when i was on the phone with them. they treated me with NO respect!!! and you wonder why they have a bad rep!

I'd like to hear the details of how the car looks, and what's left. I hope you are prepared to ask the insurance company for replacement money. I 'm sure you want to replace it. I've seen three advertisments with Rs for sale in the last month on the West coast if you are interested in a used one. I"ll have to jog my memory while at work today as to where i saw the ads.

well, i saw it and all i can say is that my ride was GUTTED!!! it was just a shell. the peeps knew what they wanted, my R was a target (of course). they left the doors, windows, hood, trunk, bumpers and air bags so i know people weren't taking it for all the parts. im sure some gsr or honda will be sporting type r shit now. engine, tranny, seats, sway bar. tires, odometer, front lip and wing gone! engine was taken out very clean!!

i'll post pictures online within a few days...

hey i'm really sorry to hear about your R. i used to work for honda in torrance california and back in '98 our testing department had four of itrs. three of them got stolen. everyone at work was warning me about mine. i've managed to dodge the bullet so far.

i ran into one guy at the track that also got his itr stolen. the strange thing about his story was that they found it all intacted. then upond closer inspection he noticed that it had gsr rims on it. then he popped the hood and found a gsr motor installed in his itr. yeah so the guys who stirpped his car took the time to covert it to a gsr. i don't know why they would do that.

anyway i hope that the insurance gives you enough money for a nice replacement

Sorry to hear about your loss. there's a crazy car theft that happened to my friend up here in Minnesota. One night my friend parked his electric blue GSR in front of his parking lot instead of inside of his garage and that particular month he didn't pay his insurance so he was booted off. He also forgot to alarm his car. Well, needless to say the found his car stripped in the middle of the street still running. Almost everything stripped down even to the shift knob. They even scratched up the body of the car writing "thank you" into the paint and because his rims had wheel locks and they couldn't get them off they just scuffed up the rims and scratched'em up. Boy that man was screwed. I see him every once and a while with a fucked up body paint and a shattered ego ( because he had a big one) I own an ITR and I have the security Compustar which I paid $700 for it. It comes with a pager and starter lock plus extras. So if someone even touches my car it will page me and go off. have you guy's thought about getting a GPS for your car? I'm going to get one also.

Find out how much to buy it back from the insurance company. I am really interested in buying that.

honestly, i thought i dodge the bullet also since i've had it so long BUT i guess not. im always watching my car, i also try to make sure to park under a light or where a lot of people travel/walk. oh well, like people said before, if they want it, they'll take it. thats a messed up story about the guy with the "big ego", thats a hard lessoned learned. about my R, my insurance towed it to a body shop today. actually i just received a call. the appraiser from my insurance still hasn't seen it. the guy at the body shop just called to BS with me about what happened and if insurance wants to repair it, where do i want it done. i questioned my insurance about buying it back yesterday but they told me to wait and talk to the appraiser. i'll def let you know if you're interested. the body shop guy told me he would call when the apprasier gets out to his shop. ill update this as i get them.....

I feel pretty lucky as of yet, although I live on a naval submarine base so my car has little chance of being stolen. When I move to CA though I'm gonna get something better than the factory alarm. Sorry about your loss, it's just not that easy to replace an R. I get people looking at mine all the time, who knows which ones are out to steal it.

I'll be sure to let you know something once I hear from insurance. Hopefully it will be today... Thanks for the lookout on the R. Thats kind of cheap for a 98, whats the condtion in??? I actually found another R in the area in perfect condition. 98 but there asking 17500... I'm going to wait and see what the insurance settlement is, hopefully they don't low ball me. As for the R on the naval base, man, you better knock on wood, you never know when it might happen. I have some boys in Cali (San Diego) who have nice rides, so far so good! I wouldn't wish this on anyone... Have fun in Cali when you head out that way, I know my boys are....haha

lil_R, dude, I was thinking about maybe selling my R for a WRX or the EVO 8. I have a job where I have to be there no matter the weather and you know how sucky it has been around here lately. Plus I have a family and I would like a 4 door compared to a 2 door. If you are interested email me at coolnbreeze@yahoo.com. Specs so far is Injen CAI and N1 exhaust. My cover was broken in before so I have all new parts that were stolen and everything has been put back to norm. If you like you can email me then we can set up a place to meet so that you can see what it looks like. I also have to fix a couple door dings plus for some reason the antenna won't go down anymore. I have to get that checked. I'm looking in the price range of 16,500. let me know. Peace out
