Was the header sheild and bolts re-sprayed? Also the braket on the front side of the valve cover, which is bolted on, seems re-sprayed...is this correct?
thanks

The engine bay was in excellent condition overall. The nuts and bolts still have their original gold chromate platings. A few items here and there that are routinely subjected to engine heat did need some tidying. But it is almost all original.

The heat shield and bolts were removed, bead blasted and sprayed with a high-temp coating identical to OEM appearance. The cast iron manifold underneath was coated with a temp-resistant manifold coating, cast iron gray. The bracket for the PS pump was removed, media blasted and sprayed with a high temp semi-gloss paint similar to OEM.

I am a stickler for details. My pet peeve is "rattle can restorations" where people do a sloppy job "fixing" things by spraying right over corrosion. I believe in doing things the right way, no expenses spared. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

Nice. If only you lived in the west coast, I'd go for it!

Price reduced.

$15,500 OBO

Lots of interest, but nobody has even come to look at it yet. When I first saw this car, I fell in love with it. It was pampered. It's even better now - all service normally performed at 90K has been attended to.

Very nice example of what a 97 can still look like.

I wish mine was that clean, not that I wouldn't track it anyways, but still :)

KEEP IT! the value will only go UP! AND UP! I own #40 with 40K and pristine too... without the intake tube.... bone stock.

The header bolts are not correct... it looks sprayed. Is it?

I also noticed the battery skirt/shield is missing.... It is an easy part to misplace when changing out your battery. I have mine and I need to re-install it! I better not forget!

Thanks for the heads up on the battery shield. The car didn't have it on when I got it - I'll have to source one, even though I don't think it is necessary. I never even noticed that part before...

As far as the heat shield bolts, those are OEM - I bead blasted them, sprayed them with a semi-flat temp resistant coating and reinstalled with a heat-resistant anti-seize. I was going to replace them with stainless, but it didn't look "right". In the pictures of ITRs with 800 miles, the bolts are black. On just about every driven ITR I have seen, they turn rust colored quickly. The OEM black paint on them was not durable enough apparently.

As far as sale activity, two people have come to actually look at this car. They both agreed that it was in top condition. After having a soft hold on the car for a month, no replies. Kinda rude. I think people either don't have the cash right now and/or can't get a loan. Lots of sight unseen offers for 14K but I'm not letting it go for that.

Leaning more and more towards keeping it. If it doesn't sell this summer, I'll just hold on to it.

Keep it...you'll regret letting heR go. It's becoming more and more difficult to find a '97 in this good of condition.

Thanks for the heads up. This is the SECOND time this has happened (that I know of). Craigslist has been alerted. Craigslist is obviously an easy place to get away with this sort of thing. Very upsetting.
