It's time for me to change my transmission oil.
What are you guys using?
Should I just get the stuff from the dealer?

MTF if you want dealer stuff
Any grinds or issues with trans, or is it just time for a change?
I personally run only Amsoil myself.

I am a long time Amsoil user as well, no complaints.
Last week I was in need of tranny fluid, my amsoil guy didn't have any in stock and I was forced to try Redline MTL.
It might be my imagination but the tranny seems to shift smoother with the Redline in it.

I've never had a single issue with 9+ years of Redline use. slick and smooth as can be on track too. Currently trying TORCO for the heck of it, but I'd never hesitate to go with Redline.

How often do you change your fluid?

I used to about once a year-year.5 I will now change every other oil change or so, but I'm not putting the miles on it that I used to.

If you plan to track the car then Honda MTF is not recommended. In addition to the options mentioned above, the following are good MTF's:
-GM Synchromesh FM
-Torco MTF

Synchromesh can be purchased at your local GM or online. Torco MTF can be bought from an Expo sponsor or online. Every now and then Amazon dones a deal on a case. I can't find that deal at the moment.

Was GM syncromesh recently discontinued? Or did it go through a name change?

I have used redline MTL in other sports cars.
It's rated at 70w80, I believe. Is this the important aspect that must be considered? Or, it doesn't matter what brand as long it's declared manual transmission fluid?
I don't have any issues with the trans; just way over due.

I have never had a problem with Honda MTF either, and I change it every other oil change.
Here is what Mr. Spoon says on MTF and Oil

I did too. My LSD clutches started to howl like mad. I quickly changed back to Honda MTF but the LSD never was the same.
Chit-head at Alamo dint add the Redline friction modifier even after i told him twice that ITRs had a limited slip.

I thought the FM was more of an issue with clutch type LSD's?

ITRs don't have clutch LSDs unless you had an aftermarket one.

Tonight I took 309 for heR maiden voyage with my first time trying Amsoil MTF....and it was butter.
This was much better than the first time out with the GM Syncromesh

I switched to Amsoil MTF in 97 #322, and was very happy with it... not a big fan of that GM stuff tho

So, the honda MTF is good with our LSDs, or do we need to supplement with an additive.

Honda MTF has additives. No need.
