Just wondering if you guys know any places to buy a type-r. i recently got my license and hopefully this will be my first car. also i dont have a garage but i live in a townhouse complex and my car will have a viper 2way alarm system. is that enough security? thanx for taking the time to read.

Most will tell you on here that it is not. It depends on where you live, but more than likely not.

will i live in a fairly nice neighborhood.(meaning that no one knows anything about these kinds of cars). my only problem would be while im in school but my viper alarm should handle that because when it goes off im gonna be running out of class. but i live in a tight neighboor hood with speed bumps and lots of cars, not to mention i live in the back with my parking space directly infront of my little yard so getting a tow truck back there would be harder than 1 pulling up 2 a driveway.

When you say school I assume you're referring to grad school, right?

I'd be very very hesitant to own one without having a garage. In most instances the Viper two way alarm is simply not enough. If someone wants your car bad enough they will get it no matter what security features you have added.

My car has a viper two way, sleeps in the garage with cars parked in front of it, and i am now a paranoid sleeper that keeps my g23 close to my bed. I still feel that is not enough, but thats just me.

I used to think that if someone wants it bad enough then they will get it. However if you have enough of the right security then it should stay where it gets parked. Not saying ppl won't try. Still have to be smart about where you park. 2 way alarm is deff not enough. I have a clifford 2 way(Not my only security) and most of the time the signal only goes a few blocks in town. You said you just got your license? I assume your only 16. Just get a gsr or something. Use the money you will save and track that. Thats my advice

coming from someone that has been around car stereo/alarms since before i was born i really have always used an "alarm" as "keyless entry"... you really arent stopping shit. only stopping honest people, and AMATEURS.

my alarm goes off when it sees a ricer, and when my dumbass sets it off by accident somehow.

i would go on, but im tired, maybe a little buzzed... in short, your shits getting stolen, some ricer thanks you for a nice ITR swap and 5lug for his hatch... if your actually serious, you need to do a lot of research (not posting) on security...

ok i really appreciate all of your comments but i am a die hard type r fan. if it comes down to me sleeping in my car with a gun than let it come down to that. and ive been looking into lojack so hopefully if it is stolen i will get it back. but if i dont find a type-R ill just get a gsr till my insurance goes down.

I hate to rain on your parade, but you're definitely not in a good position to keep an R safe. Please, don't just throw another one down the drain to the thieves..plenty are gone already. Yeah, don't piss away all your money on insurance either....it must be ridiculous at your age. Stick around though, keep reading up and someday you'll have one before you know it...and be able to keep it safe ;)
