Installing Extended Wheel Studs, PITA?

I have to install extended wheel studs next week, any tips? I'm installing ARP, should I have them spot welded once I have them pressed? Should I try and get the car on stands and do this myself? Bring the hubs to the shop to have pressed? Labor for something like this would probably be expensive, huh?

I'm only doing fronts for the moment since the issue with needing more thread lies up front. I'll install rears later but, just don't need them at the moment.

Long story short, I'm trying to get my car out to a track event in a couple weeks and ran into clearance issues with brake caliper and rim. Unfortunately have to run a 5mm spacer due to the shop ordering me the wrong offset TE37. They clear no problem but I haven't taken the car to the track with the TE37's and the business card gap of clearance scared me knowing the brake caliper and rim will have a bit of deflection at higher temps. Just want everything to be safe for the event.

Any info would be appreciated.

you have to replace the wheel bearings as you have to destroy them to remove the hubs which is necessary for extended stud install on ITR hubs. Hope you realize and planned for that. Other than that, it's simple. I see no need for spot welding.

Rears are easy, do them at the same time.

Nope. The bearing comes apart when you press the hub out of the knuckle.

Not sure if you got the wrong ones.... the 'import' packs were out of stock when I purchased the 'domestic' pack (they came in packs of 5 vs. packs of 4).

As long as the threads (and head size/knurl) are good you should be fine.

I decided to scratch the whole idea of running extended wheel studs until after the track event. I'm just going to throw my stock rims back on for the event since clearance isn't an issue with them.

I'm going to keep the write-up on file for when I do them. Thanks again for the info!
