Pledges for Ledges/Chump Car

So hooch and I have done some serious brainstorming on adding a second car to the we-todd crapcan lineup. I have a hideous RS shell that I picked up off from jack a few months ago with anticipation of using it for scrap metal till Andy came up with the race car idea.

Currently the only goal is to get this shitbox ready to run the October 2011 25 hour enduro race at Nelson Ledges in Ohio. Obviously we'll need 3-4 more drivers and a crew that is willing to work for Country Club w/ Four Loko bonuses. Not even completely sure what the charge would be to charter a drivers seat just yet, it'll be an expensive venture; however, It should be a hoot.

We're going to take care of getting the car running, cage, odds and ends, etc so all the driver would have to do is show up with some nomex gear and be prepared to beat the shit out of this thing for many many hours.

While it is still very far out it's not too early to plant the bug so the funds and time can be earmarked, when the car is up and has had a proper shakedown the plan is to take deposits on the driver seats and register.

So let the discussion begin, open to all comments, suggestions and concerns.

I'm in.

Got the nomex and 3 years of Lemons New England experience.

It would be nice to drive a non-subaru as all they do is blow up.

Last year with a 5 man team my costs came to ~$650. This includes entry fees, machine shop work and a motor rebuild, and a car that already had a lot of work put into it from two prior years.

It's going to depend on how much the actual event runs. I haven't been able to get confirmation on how much that actually is. Since there are a lot of associated costs outside of just registration that'll have to be calculated into it. Obviously it will be much more than your average HPDE weekend, but with the potential for much more seat time and w2w experience you won't get hpde'ing

NICE! I figured I could count you in on this one sir. Mark the date on the calendar, it would be awesome to have you aboard.

Count me in. I would love to drive, but even if I can't (for whatever reason), I can contribute wrenchtime/funds/etc.

You have enough on your plate with the new house and such right now, which is why I wasn't going to harp you on the initial investment. Pack away the cash you can drive this hunk of shit. When push comes to shove and it's time to register I want to make sure we have the correct amount of people ready to roll. I would much rather have you out there driving than contribute money to a car that we could run the risk of destroying on day one.

Just chatted with one of the regional directors in charlotte and he said he would gladly check the car out to make sure everything was kosher long before we hit the road.
