The question should be why? Why would someone spend that much money to rice a type R? Tell your friend to spend his money more wisely, get some lightweight 15s with some sticky Azenis or other good rubber.
An R is about purism, it's about appreciating a perfect front drive car, and most importantly about going fast, leave the 19s for the riceboys.
I'm not trying to be a hater, but it's just such a waste! Also tell your buddy to study up on rotational inertia, sprung and unsprung weight.

Yeah so true, 19's belong on Escalades, not ITR's.
It made me sick reading the USCC for '03, with the ITR on 18'2...argh!

Yeah, about the USCC, what a joke, that guy is an embarassment to all ITRs, I mean please, high 300s at the wheel running 13s? That car was a total hack job, a lot of shortcuts, and a lot of stupidity.

19's on an Escalade?? I'm thinking that 22's, 23's, and 24's belong on an Escalade

19's HAHAHAHA
try some nice forged lightweight 16 x 7 or 16 x 8.
thats what an ITR is about. max size i would go for are 17's, but thats only if i had to.
do you want to be a ricer or a racer. the choice is yours.

This discussion could go on forever.
There was a guy at Expo with 18" wheels, and he seemed to do OK.
The road racers are going to prefer 15", with a few opting for a combination of 16" wheels/tyres if they think they have the right combination of rubber, weight, and weight concentration.
Some are forced to use 17" because of series rules, but you shouldn't take this as evidence that they'd prefer it if left to their own devices.
Who knows...maybe one day a specific tyre's availability in 18" will move us all in that direction!
In the mean time, if it's looks you're concerned with, it's in the eye of the beholder, and you don't necessarily want
us telling
you what
you like.
