Do you ever wish you kept your car stock?
Sometimes I regret modifying my Type-R. It was kind of fun to drive as-is. Do any of you get what I'm saying?

Sometimes
I think sometimes I really wish I had, but when I'm busy wasting most of the cocky pricks in V8s, I'm definitely glad I did.
Seriously though, I think If I had the opportunity to have my car back the way it was stock, and have the 15-20 grand I've dumped into my car, wether its stereo stuff, motor stuff, or stuff for looks, or suspension, I'd probably rather a stock R and the moolah.
Guess I'll really never know......
Just remember, don't get too caried away, though I love mine like a child, and would be devistated if anything were to ever happen to it. It's jsut a car.

I'm SO glad I've kept mine stock, except for a minimally wider tire than what it came with, since I always felt it looked just a bit under-tired.
In any case, since the Honda engineers felt the car was fairly maximized for everyday and track use by the factory, and I like to keep a special car like the 'R' stock, I've left it alone and am glad. Of course, I don't race it, -though I am near some great back roads for spirited driving, and use them frequently - . and haven't had it on a track, which I'd love to do.
To me, being an older guy, my '98 is flashy enough and fun enough, and I don't care for a louder exhaust or turbo-lag, or anything that might interfere with the car's everyday reliability.
Sometimes I play with the idea of some subtle cosmetics in the interior or a nice mesh grill for the large intake in front but haven't done it yet. It's fast enough, and fun enough as it is, for me at least. If I had a regular Integra or Civic I'd probably do a lot of modifying.
The bottom line is: just enjoy your special car, no matter WHAT you do to it!

I don't know...bone stock I was beating Type-R's competition...the V8 Mustang...let me clarify why I said competition. Brand new, both of them are in the $24,000~$27,000 range. So, they're within the same price range. ITR's VS V8 Mustang's stock...the Type-R wins hands down. Everytime. However, the 1/2 mile they start to catch up, but the ITR is still in the lead. Sometimes I wish I kept mine stock, just for the sheer joy of beating all these ricers and they ask what do you have done, and you can smile and just say, "I'm bone stock, kid." But now-a-days, mommy-and-daddy are buying their kids all these hook-ups for their cars...and you do need that extra umph!

I never even considered making mods to my car (other than things like my seat which can be easily reversed). I think this is a big issue, particularly for '97 models - which are very collectible, since mods can decrease the long term value of a collectible.

I've got 68,000km on this bone stock R and I couldn't be happier.
I keep trying to think of good reasons to modify this car but it does everything great.
The only thing I have tried is a Mugen ECU to give me access to the rpm I need on certain race tracks, but I don't consider this modified , because I take it out after the race.
We don't consider Hawk brakes and R-compound tires modifications...do we? Upgrades perhaps?
Either way, these cars are the ones to have, everything else sucks!

Nope, never regretted putting mods in the car. All my mods were carefully researched and they work great as a whole!
The key is to know what you want before you spend your hard-earned $$$. I knew exactly what I wanted and I bought them after researching thoroughly.
My car is several times better than stock in performance. I know it, 'cuz my autoX times show it.
Stock R is great... but modded R is even better.
