sounds like backfire in between shifts...

I installed the j's racing intake and i notice that in between shifts it sounds like a back fire or something:?, i cant figure out what the hell it is? andthe car kind of seems hesistent to go. Any help would be appreciated.

sounds like a lean misfire. Add fuel in the rpm range where it's happening for example on deceleration at 5000rpm.... or whatever the area is that it's happening.

how can i do this? all i have are basic bolt-on's (I/H/E)

well, if it is in fact a fuel issue, there are some crude ways to modify your fueling.
A. Get a rising-rate fuel pressure regulator. Pressure rises as a function of manifold pressure. (low fuel pressure with manifold pressure at vacuum, high pressure as manifold pressure reaches atmosphere)
B. Get a piggy back such as VAFC and adjust fueling electronically
C. Stand-alone system (big bucks)

Easiest way out is to get a VAFC and get that thing tuned on a dyno.
