Well, here's my opinion on this.itr wrote:but isnt the hytech exhaust system a good system too. can you guys tell me why you wouldnt go with hytech and go with smsp. i really want to know the reasons why. i have the cash now and i can't decide. when i didnt have n's i wanted the hytech but now i have n's and i dont know what i should get.
Both systems are very good. Both will produce very good gains. Because of that, I would base my decision on my opinions of the people who run the companies. Dave@SMSP has been a supported of the ITR community for years now and is truly a good guy. John IMO is a complete asshole and a bad businessman. That's my opinion on it. So for me, I would never send John money, but would gladly send Dave money without concern.

Perhaps this link might assist you in comparing the SMSP and Hytech. If you look at the dyno curves, they are essentially the same. I would imagine no real live person could tell the difference between these two based on the "butt dyno". I am not sure about the editorial comments in the link, but you can make your own judgement by looking at the dyno curves.

Gain seems to be about 18 whp (from about 162 stock to 180 with header). This almost matches what Hytech says. Their website says you get 22 whp gain. This could be due to different exhaust systems used after the header. The link above does not state what exhaust was used.
