FINALLY broke in the 14's

Went to the track the other night.
R/T .739
60' 2.305
330 6.367
1/8 9.680
MPH 75.94
1000 12.529
1/4 14.931
MPH 94.77
My first run I ran a 15.1 and my third run 15.4 with lots of wheel spin.
Temp was 35 degrees,
High 14's may not be a big deal to a lot of you but I have been trying to get there with bolt ons and a clutch with 96K on it.
I think I should be able to get a mid 14 out of it.

good deal.... what kind of car you running ? what mods ? according to your 60ft. you should be able to run a 14.5 with a good 1.8-1.9 60ft. With those cold temps , you may be done for the season.... where you at...

I have a 97 ITR. Header & CAI. Everything else is stock. I do have a bit of audio equipment slowing me down too. I am in southern NH, I will be putting her away soon. Snow will be here soon. Last open night for runs is OCT 31 at the Dragway.
I want to do a turbo sooooo bad.
I think with a better launch It should be mid 14's

what were you launching at ? and what was your tire pressure ?

I don't drop my tire pressure. I am feathering the clutch 3-4K RPM out till it grabs and dumping it when it gets enough traction. Shifting at about 8600 RPM
If I take out the passenger side directional will it make any bit of a difference? I have seen others do this to get more air flow.

It may be good for a tenth or so.... but i would say to drop your tire pressure to about 20 psi and see if it helps... larger contact patch is a good thing... if it gets better , continue to drop it little by little...

Hey that's pretty good man. But guys on honda-tech have been hittin mid-high 13's with basic mods and slicks. Otherwise, I have no idea how. That's like WRX STi fast.
I didn't think it was physically possible for the car to do that.

ericleee, some of us are htting high 13's with bolt ons and street tires.
1.8 to 1.9 60' on street tires isn't gonna happen. Slicks it will.
2.2-2.3 isn't a bad 60'. You might be short on midrange power. Considered a VAFC or Hondata?

about time someone gives some helping advice... You'll NEVER get below 2.0 60' for one on streets... Slicks, yes... It's possible to get down in the 2.1 area though on streets. Thats about what I run on streets with some high 2.0's every so often. I'd drop your stock tire pressure down to 25psi and start there, then lower your tire pressure 2psi after every 3-4 runs or so until you see your overall trap speed (mph) start slowing down....THEN once you see that its slowing down, pump your tires back up that 1-2psi and keep it there for the rest of your event. Also, I'd advice you to drop a tad higher in RPM's when launching (4500-5000) range... I personally drop around 6ish then pound away through the gears. You WANT wheel spin off the line, just nothing too excessive (if your spinning anything past the 60' mark, your spinning too much, drop the launch rpm's about 500rpm's, also...if your wheel hoping off the line, raise your RPM's in increments of 500rpms until it stops).
As far as the mid/high 13's comment, I wouldn't get frustrated if you can't hit those times....its very rare in a ITR you could say... Other than Trey on this board, I've never EVER seen a true ITR run faster than 14.4 so I think you're off to a good start... I personally run 13.8's on street tires (Falken Azinis-17psi) but I have a JDM R in a Civic Si Coupe. Keep trying, it'll come... I have several dozen's of video footage of stock R's running 15's all day long so... Congrats getting into the 14's... Any real drag racer that has been doing this sport for a while knows that just that simple 10th of a second feels like an impossibility sometimes.

I've pulled numerous 1.8s and 1.9s on street tires. You do realize that Drag Radials are street tires (impractical but true)

I was refering to the stock ITR tires that he was prolly using, sorry should have been more clear.

launch at around 5,500-6,000 slip the clutch for a good whole second and DO NOT put the throttle to the floor, keep it right where it is until you gain traction and then floor it, you should be at around 6,000 rpms (in vtec) when you put it to the floor. that should be good for 2.1 60fts and drop you into the mid 14s...you are a lucky man that your tach isnt off, i shift at (tach reading) 9,000.
