I have a 98 TYPE R and just have an an AEM CAI. My next plans are to put a universal muffler on my car, AEM adj cam gers, and pulleys. I need some suggestions as to what universal muffler i should get and to keep it $200 and under. Also DO Cam Gears and pulleys really make a diff? ALso does a fuel pressure regulator and a fuel rail really help a lot?

As for a "universal muffler " try to get something specific for the R, Cam gears will only help get some extra power out if you tune the car other wise don't mess around.
Fuel rail and Fpr is not really need if your going with bolt ons.

Cam gears, VAFC, headers w/ full exhaust and CAI will give you a nice power increase. Simple things are needed. unless your looking for a unreliable car.

My thoughts. Unless you are going to dyno and tune skip cam gears. Pulleys are not really worth it. FPR and fuel rail are not needed for mild modification.

Universal muffler is going to do nothing but make noise. It won't make any more power or the car go faster. Any universal muffler would work, just pick the pretty one.

Listen to bbasso, CAI, Header, VAFC

Your car's just like mine...only an AEM CAI. It sure does scream, "VTEC!" doesn't it? I remember racing a GS-R, and he had an intake, header exhaust, and valve springs. Everyone heard his VTEC hit first, then mine, and they all told me that my car sounds like it's been fully built. That AEM CAI really makes a difference.
As for what you're asking...the Universal Muffler won't make a difference in your performance. You'll need a system that runs all the way to your A-Pipe to make a difference. The muffler will just make your exhaust sound different. If you want a loud car, just punch a hole in your muffler. sheesh. However, you'll be pure rice. lolx. and the db from your exhaust will put you to sleep on the freeway.
the cam gears shouldn't be considered until you've placed an ECU in. Your stock one's will hold up just fine up to 8000 RPM. After 8000, stock ITR cams just don't do it. I'd suggest Toda, because they specifically make them for ITRs; and I've seen their dyno sheets, as well as their '00 Type R. Very nice.
Good luck with whatever you decide. But this topic should have been under Naturally Aspirated, I think.

I'm just going to say that Stock R cams with very good tuning and mild bolt-ons can get a near the 200whp mark. have seen cars with it.
just adding to the conversasion...
