According to this article, and one in the issue after this, it appears as though the CTR is finally coming our way!

I'm not so sure of that. I know they are improving the Si for 2004 and are offering the upgraded package, but in addition to the motortrend article, I also read something similar in Consumer Guide that said something about the Type R version being introduced in late 2004 or as an '05 model.

Honda is always tight-lipped about new models, so I know they won't say anything until last minute.

But I think the Type R would be a good move for them in order for Honda to keep up with many of the other cars in this segment (SRT-4, Focus SVT, Ion Red Line, etc.).

It's just a matter of time! But I think we'll see the Type R version soon.

The Honda dealer's don't know anything! They won't know until it shows up on their door step. It's always been this way with Honda/Acura. They have some of the best secret-keeping personnel in the business!

It's just like when the 2000 ITR came back! There was no word of it happening until it showed up at dealers.

I say, just wait! It's coming! It's just a matter of when.

This is the same thing we hard with the RSX Type-R coming out or for that matter when the new Intetgra (RSX) was really going to be released. Don't believe anything you read. Just be pleasently surprised when it comes, which I would not hold my breath about.

if they would bring the dc5r over here though my dc2r would be at the dealership the first day getting traded in...its sad that japan is going to let the rest of the world get the good shit and leave us americans wishing for more. :?

I think there's a bigger chance for the CTR than there was for the DC5 ITR.

First off, we know that Honda has permission to market a car in North America that might compete in some markets with the RSX Type S.

There are two marketing strategies that would support this.

(1) Although it's a risk, profit margin vs volume, they could actually sell the EP3 CTR for $20,000 and lower the price of the EP3 Si to $16,000. IMHO, this is what they should have done all along, and I think it would set new volume records.

The EP3 Si at $20,000 is questionable. But it's a very good buy at $16,000. The EP3 CTR at $20,000 would be a good buy.

(2) They could still bring in and sell the EP3 CTR at a price point similar to the RSX Type S. At $25,000 or more, they would sell quite fewer CTR, but I can guarantee you that the presence of the EP3 CTR, together with the visible racing programmes, would boost EP3 Si sales, and all Civic sales, tremendously.

Hopefully, they'll go along with Number 1!
