Dyno tuning coming up..

by Jan Niemi
Well I'm getting the car tuned finally at Payn Technologies on the 21st of this month. I reserved 3 hours of dyno time. They have a Mustang MD dyno that uses eddy currents, this will definitely net lower numbers than the Dynojet, but the numbers will be more realistic.

Our plan is to tune WOT with open downpipe because that's how I run it at the strip, part throttle tuning will be with full exhaust.

I will post updates, and video after the 21st.

jan judging from the traps I would say you are close to 300whp on your old set up...good luck...I probably won't dyno mine since the shop has a wideband but I might later in summer

No, I always run 94 octane fuel, and stock timing. On really hot humid summer days she will detonate on occasion, but other than that no problems.

forsfed- we definitly still have it. it has been there for a while so no one can even remember the price on it but jay is checking the inventory sheets before he leaves tonight. Shipping shouldn't be that much either. here is my set up as of right now:

Greddy 18G turbo
Greddy FMIC
HKS SSQ BOV
Profec-B boost controller
custom 2.5" DP and Charge pipe
stock B-pipe with HKS dragger axle back(need 3")
inline pro head gasket and block gaurd
skunk2 cam gears(needed with the HG to zero in the cams from the deck height change)
ARP head studs
450cc injectors
cartech adjustable FMU
missing link
255lph fuel pump
V-AFC
ACT 2600 clutch
ACT pro lite flywheel
apex-i turbo timer
Greddy EGT and boost gauges
magnacore 8.5MM plug wires
stock internals
new water pump, timing belt as of april

I have a Hondata 4B with 3 bar and 945cc injectors waiting to go in for spring. I am goin to try to pick up a 3" exhaust, slicks, scatter sheild, and greddy oil presure gauge.

on 11psi I made 230whp and 192wtq on the AFC hack and very poor AF ratio(low 10:1 to high 9:1 range from 6 grand up. the power curve just went flat at 6k) with the FMU set up the car is much smoother(no bucking)and you take out less fuel so there is not as much timing advance as with the hack.

Best time on the hack- 13.7@107mph
Best time on the FMU- 13.0@109mph(only made 4 runs at the track on that set up. the car would have gone 12's easy with a few more passes)

Sounds real good man. That is a nice setup and that some nice times. All I want to do is beet my old times that I did with my mx6 13.8@109 =13.6@112 at 15psi.
