most factory alarms don't have shock sensors or whatever so smashing the windows would not trigger the alarm. usually, just opening the doors will make the alarm to go off. the 00 and 01 R's did have an immobilizer though.

OK first off what year is the Type R you are buying? they didn't start putting the transponder keys till 00/01. Secondly the car doesn't come standard with a factory alarm. So if who ever owned the car before you if they had the factory install the Honda alarm then it's actually crap since the only time it will go off is if the first smash your window (the obvious choice for thieves since it's so quick) and then when they reasch in and unlock your door and open it then the Honda horn will go off. Whoopty doo! Yeah that will scare someone.<--insert sarcasm

My advice is if they are going to add the factory alarm to it don't waste your money on that and go get you a good alarm AND Lo Jack installed. I think you can go to Lo Jack's website and see the coverage in your area. Since I used to work at an import place down here in Louisiana we found something just as small as Lo Jack, cheaper in price and if your car is stolen you can track it yourself on the web and you can even install the option on it to disable the car as soon as it comes to a slow speed and activates the starter disable. I will have to call my old boss and see what the website is to get the piece I am talking about.

Like I said I wouldn't go with Lo Jack IF your local police are not set up for it. If they can't trace Lo Jack then it's useless for you to get it. Let me get with my old boss today to she what the name of that unit that I was describing is so you can check them out as well as everynoe on here. If I see that my car has been stolen I want to be able to trace them on the spot. Not wait for a cop to ride around and his Lo Jack all of a sudden picks us a signal.

Here is the company I was talking about. http://www.rentaltrack.com
Once there click on products and read up. It's cheaper than Lo Jack and a hell of alot better. Read for yourself.

I have the viper responder on my 03 Si and it is a good alarm but if you are in a show or in my case at work the remote range does't work at that distance. so the key pad wont vibrate or beep if you car is being messed with. thats why I put the viper 850 xv is still has the antenna in the window for long range remote function but you dont have to have that big remote
that A eats a battery a month B gets scratched very easy(no leather case)
C bangs around like crazy with my si stock suspention. it just makes you more worried and if you are ever out of the very limited range it does you no good. save the extra $200 from the 790 and get the 850 and spend the extra money on the prox sensor and the window module and the back up battery and interior siren. I ahad my install guy hide the alarm brain in a different location most thieves look under the dash at the steering wheel
where 99% of installers put the alarm brain. just put it in a different location that will help alot! I also have my horn and the alarm siren hooked up to go off so its really loud. I have lo-jack to and the brake lock.
sorry for rambling

Type R Stock Alarm - Clifford better Alarm

This is a repeat on what I posted in clifford alarm systems area. Just want to give everyone the info.

Intelliguard 750 or higher G5 is the best alarms for Clifford. Why because they have better features in protecting your car. All the Matrix series and Viper 2 way Responder Alarms are just entry level alarms.

http://www.clifford.com/g5/sec/default. ... liguard750

Martix alarms are easy to install and easy to bypass. The 750 has a starter and ignition kill. The intelliguard is a little more difficult to install and harder to find a place that will do it for you. There are many features to install for this system. The wireless immobilizer which can cut off your fuel line. Digital tilt sensor to detects even minor lifting or rolling of the vehicle ( in case someone tries to jack up the car.) The basic install cost about $450. The extra features vary between places but around 100 for each feature. If you want a good alarm get a Matrix, if you want a great one get the Intelliguard.

Hope this info helps everyone.
