turning in a jacker

What's up fellas, I'm new the board and I need some advice...
Heres my dilema: I know a guy who until recently was a friend of mine. I also recently found out he is a jacker and heard from another friend he may be plotting to jack my car. My car is always garaged but when I go out I get worried about it. I also found out he has jacked other cars before not too long ago and know for a fact he has stolen engine blocks at his residence. Now heres my question...is there any way to anonymously tip off local law enforcement in my area and have them check it out without him ever knowing it was me? I hate jackers and if I caught him trying to steel my car I would probably end up killing him so the reason I'm askin this is because it's probably the best situation to keep myself from doing something extremely stupid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
