last 3 on VIN# vs serial# on armrest

should they be the same? picking up an 01 ITR and want to make sure everything is up to snuff.

no there totally different. I used to thikn they were some how related but there not at all. I think the R jsut got random numbers or something.

There is no correlation to the arm rest and vin. Honda doesn't keep track. The badges were made & placed on the arm-rest.

BudMan - who wishes the VIN & arm-rest did match to avoid the confusion...

good luck on the caR, make sure you keep it safe. theifs are alwways looking for ITRs

yeah, i'm not too worried about it. i live in an ok area as far as that goes, and i work on an AF base. if i've got to go somewhere shady, i'll drive my wrx. it's a wagon, so most folks leave it alone. i just sold my evo. now that thing had me worried. everyone knew about it. 482awhp on pump gas and it screamed "somebody steal me"! i'm just glad it's bone stock. i looked for a while and this was the first one w/o mods, and it was w/in 4 hours of me. i remember how bad i wanted one when they came out in 97 but i was in the AF and just couldn't afford it. there was a guy down the street and i about wrecked everytime i drove by it. i have since been able to afford much faster cars, but somthing about the ITR still gets me going.
