Popping the trunk

Does anyone have this problem in their ITR? In the manual it says it *may* be a problem and to go to the dealership. Symptom: to open the trunk, I have to turn the key clockwise 90 degrees and hold it, then lift up on the trunk. And it doesn't work all the time, I have to do it maybe 3 times tops. I kind of expect the thing to just pop open after twisting.
I tried searching. Thanks for any help!

I used to have that problem with my 94 GSR, but with the ITR I haven't had any problems. I'd spray some lubricant on the locking mechanism - maybe it's getting sticky?

Lots of people have the actuator go bad.

I replaced mine last year ($75) & now I'm selling it since I don't want any latch on my hatch ;)

$50 shipped.

Are you in the Chicagoland area? Could you help me install it? Or is it a really easy thing to do? I'm definitely interested in the part.

I did the switch during lunch ~15 minutes. It's really easy. 3 bolts if I recall correctly. You do have to pull the rear bar & black plastic cover off.

I'm in Kansas City. It's easy to ship though.

PM me or email me or just paypal to jeff@itrca.com if you want it.

...what did you mean when you said you don't want any latch on your hatch? Does fixing this expose a security risk to my ITR? Does not fixing this cause my ITR hatch to be more secure?

Is this an OEM actuator? Where did you purchase it from? Thanks!

Hey nevermind, BudMan. From the h-t thread I started (which you're on as well) it appears my trunk is working just fine. Thanks anyway!

If you've fixed your actuator - great!

As for security...I'm building an SCCA ITE club race car, so I'm not real concerned about somebody breaking in at the mall ;)

no latch = less weight (anything to keep me from having to diet)!!
