I was out at Great Lakes Dragaway (Union Grove, WI) a couple days ago. It wasn't quite 40 degrees out. No traction.

Plus, I can't hit 3rd gear to save my life.

Anyhow, on Hankook Z212's:

60' = 2.162
330 = 5.807
1/8 = 8.645 @ 87.16
1000 = 11.061
1/4 = 13.059 @ 113.35

That was by far my best run, I had a couple of 14's in there when I completely missed 3rd. :oops:

I was running about 14 that night. I've run 18 in the past.

You feathering the clutch on the way out or what?

Nah, just lighting them up :) Feather gas and clutch up until about 15 MPH. Spin rest of 1st (feather gas). Spin rest of 2nd (feather gas). Feather the throttle just a bit in 3rd so it hooks up.

What tire PSI are you running? I noticed you said the Hankook but what pressure. I was running mine (stock) at 21.5 Just stop by a gas station to fill up with air on the way home.

Z212.

Best run was at 27 PSI.

I dropped em to 20 PSI, didn't help.

It was 36 degrees out.

Well at 36 degree's that's probably your problem. I don't think I've ever dragged in that kind of temp. Dunno mang, wait till it get's warmer outside.

Actually the colder temp helped him. Cold contracts! So per cc of air that his car was ingesting, it has more oxygen concentrated in it. More O2+more fuel+good spark=More power!

My best times are always my 1st run or two at the track in the mornings. For night time fun drags... The later the better because it's starting to cool down.

Yes colder air is more dense causing more HP but it does not help traction getting out of the hole

You got to train yourself how to...

Pre load the cluth(dont just drop it from a full press to the floor).

Know when to feather the throttle and or release the clutch slower.

Also know the how, when and what to put your tire PSI's at!

These will help yield you better 60' times along with "hooking up" better out of the hole. To put it simple... Once your tire spin is done on the launch, you want to be just into VTEC. Not dogging it and being on the lower cam profile. Also not at 7,000RPM's either.

I totally understand what your saying as I'm running 14.4's stock. You have to "feel" the car. I was launching at 5500 and feathered, felt when the car got traction. As soon as the car hooked up I nailed it. It takes lots of practice to "feel" what's actually going on. Once you get it though, your good to go. Have fun with it and keep going out.
