Staggered Tire for Auto-x?

I was looking at some of the nationally competeitive ITRs and they are running staggered tire set ups. Does anyone have personal expirience with this? What tires do you guys run on your ITRs? I'll be in DS this season locally and have no idea what tire to buy or what size has the most success, I raced the Kumho V700's last year on a civic in HS and liked them, I think I am leaning more towards the V710's but would like to hear everyone else's opinions.

Back when I raced in G stock, before the ITR got moved to D stock, I used 225/50/15 Kumho V700's in the front and 205/50/15 Kumho V700's in the rear. I also used a H&R 5mm wheel spacer in the front.
If I were racing in stock class nowadays, I'd run the V710's in the same sizes that I mentioned, along with the 5mm spacers in the front.

This won't be much of a help to you, but locally there was a guy who ran staggered tires on his GSR. don't know tire sizes or wnthing sorry. but he switched back to non-starggered last season, after a couple of seasons.

A search on this subject will reveal many posts refering to the 225/45 frt and 205/50 rear as THE set up for the ITR in DS.
The choice between V710s and A3S05s is still up in the air. Since Kumho still doesn't make 225/45's , I will be on Hoosiers again this year.

I ran Kumho V710 all last year, starting with 225/50/15 front and 205/50/15 rear. I then switched to 205/50/15 all around (which is what I ran in 2004).
In my mind the extra width up front isn't enough advantage to justify the bad gearing, extra cost & extra weight.
FWIW, I didn't run spacers in the front, and had rubbing issues at full lock.
But I'm not nationally competitive

Yup, the 225/50 are too tall and yes, spacers are needed.
My fingers are crossed hoping Kumho will make 225/45's.
I am also hoping that the new BMW'S in DS won't make me nationally non-competitive. This year may mark the end of ITR success in DS.

The BMW decision is a little upsetting. The 330 was no slouch already, and the ZHP has a several changes that, if you did them to a 330 yourself, would kick you out of DS (bigger wheels, stiffer springs. etc). Seems like cheating.
But, regionally, what do I care? Too expensive to show up in droves...

Yup the ZHP package will be hard to beat. But I won't go down without a fight.
What may help a bit is the new surface at HPT which offers less grip and would favour the nimble cars.
I will tune up at FT-Myers, Peru, Devens and Milwaukee.
