The ITR and the new edition to Dstock

Im ready to start shopping around for a new ride. I've been in Estock for two years now and have always wanted an ITR. What do you guys think about the ZHP option Bimmers? Are they gonna rule? Ive never been the type of autocrosser that buys the underdog car for the class. I need to have the "it" car, that sounds bad, but thats how i am (2003/S2000 in Bstock, 2004-05'/MR2 in Estock). I think i may have been a couple of years off on this one.

I have wheels, we Estockers use Millenias too. Do the Volk Te-37's fit on the front in the stock class wheel size? I remember someone trying, but couldnt clear the brake calipers. I have two right now, and would probably get the other pair if it worked.

What are the ITR's going for anyway? I know my first impressions about the insurance rates on these things isnt that good.

The Bimmers will no doubt be the favorite in DS, but IMHO the R should still hold its own.

I dont know of anyone running 15x6 TE37s, I would be surprised if they didnt fit. Millenias/929s sure are a cheap alternative though, and they fit just fine.

ITRs vary in cost but typically anywhere from low $13k-20k depending on year and condition. Insurance varies wildly, but if you are married and/or over 25 its not too bad. I only pay $277/6mo for full coverage on my 97. My 01 was like $650/6mo.

Best of luck to you!

As an all around car, the ITR is hard to beat. Regionally it will still win. At the nationals it may be tougher. The ZHP package is the way to go if you want an overdog car for the future of DS.

The Mazda wheels seem to be fine for what you want to do. The Koni double adjustables will be your next investment.
You will need 5mm front spacers to go with the 50ET OE wheels if you use 225/45 Hoosiers.

Let us know when you make your choice.

15x6 TE-37's do not clear the front ITR caliper. If they would, pretty much everyone would be running them.

The best option is the Millenia wheels. No fit problems at all.

You're considering an R? SWEET. Email me if you'd like some inside skinny with the car. I just finished building the R into an SCCA ITE club race car. Here's a couple pics on the small wheels.

Do you still have the camaro or did you ditch that for the MR2?

Buying an ITR is on my list. Ive always wanted one, but the insurance has kept me away. Its even more expensive than my 97 Camaro SS! I still do own that car. It will be my trade in on whatever i decide to get. The thought of finishing it for ESP has crossed my mind too. Afterall, i do have 80% of the parts for it. Im not entirely sold on what to get. It seems that every car i want is threatened in some way of reclass or underdog status. I would just buy a 89 Z51 Vette, but i dont want another old car.

BTW, you ITR looks alittle different since i last saw it!
