uh oh rust on the hood

Post by kensan »

So my ITR had some rock chips on the hood when I bought it, no big deal. Now that I have looked at the car, I see rust where once it was just metal:( Am I going to need to repaint the entire hood? Anyone been through this already? Thanks

I have been thru this on other cars then my ITR. I usually have so much wax on the car that the rust stays contained and only has a min effect.. But once it starts to travel under your paint it needs to be taken care of quick.

If you have some local bodyshops near you, shop around and ask what they recommmend. But never take the word of the first place.

good luck.

To repair the problem correctly, yes, the entire hood will need to be repainted. There will be no possible way for the body shop (or you) to match & blend the paint to have it look like it was never even touched. On the other hand, if you do not care about the cars apperance....there is always Rust-O-Lium (I hope that is spelled right).
