Hi... Can we get a better tranny than those factory ones!!! Should we rebuilt those we already have or just buy new ones from Honda??? Which shop are building some and how much??? Tranny with forged gears or so for high HP purpose and very stiff/modified clutch!!!

By the way I'm up here in Eastern Canada...

Thanks.

I think and have heard that the stock tranny is pretty strong, Just watch for the syncros... But if driven 100% properly the syncros should last a long time.

As for the Clutch, If you are going for BIG #s then a very stiff clutch might work against you and the transmission.

I have read that the Tilton is pretty nice and holds up very well under big #s.

good luck.

I got a Custom twin diaphragm clutch... Don't know the name/model!!! I guess It's better to buy a brand new tranny from Honda and sell the on I got than rebuilt it???

Thanks

Who is rebuilding the transmission?
why don't you trust them or the work being done?
Rebuilt can be a good thing, customize.

Or if you have serious money : http://www.gearspeedinc.com/home.htm and just get yourself a fully built transmission. I have their syncros in mine and they make a nice product and good service too.

Question, ok if I would want to install 4.9 final drive how can i rebuild trany. cuz I heard that some ppl do something with 5th gear because on stock gear box with 4.9 final while driving on highway 5th gear car gets higher rpms and also car is louder and wastes more gas. So where can I get that done?(modify transmission), how much it will cost? I hope I am not messing up this topic cuz my question have nothing to do with forced induction, srry if I did.

I have a few times and when the diff goes it is bad. also with the ITR's short gears you have to run tall tires with big power. I am already at the limit of the 225/50/15's on the drag strip with only about 400whp.

I've seen 400+ cars on stock trans' with stock diff. On a drag strip!

yes it can be done but I know at anything over 400whp you are taking a chance with the stock diff

So are you saying will the stock trans hold up or the stock diff?

I thought we're discussing the strength of the gears/syncros, and not the differential.

I ran a 10.80 with stock Honda gears and a Kaaz LSD. When I finally get around to putting the finishing touches on my drag car, I'll have over 600whp and I'll be using the stock gears with a spool.

tranny will hold it, diff will not for a long period of time.

also saying that why use a ITR tranny(I have too cause I am broke) when you make that much power because you run out of gear unless you are on a TALL tire

So trade for an ls. If you are anywhere near VA I'll trade you straight up...

if you're looking for big power (400+) get an LS tranny. Take advantage of the taller gears. ITR's are simply too short for the power. Unless you're running slicks, you'll spin through at least 2 gears, killing your 60ft. OR you'll have the feather the gas, killing your 60ft. The Ls tranny you'll be very benefical on launch, and will help you to better use your powerband. LS should hold but if not, they are sure as hell cheap to replace.
