For all of you hard core Track guys, What axles are you using or used and what are some of your thoughts?

I'm running the driveshaftshop "roadrace" axles.

I used the original oem for 100,000 miles before switching - there wasn't anything wrong with them at the time...

For track use, I don't see a big need to switch to anything fancy unless you have problems.

Remanufactured or new? I had nothing but problems with their remanufactured units.

New/refurbed? I dont know actually. I just say I need an axle for a 00 teg w/abs they hand me a box with a pretty nice axle in it. I've only had to replace a couple over the past few years. They cost me 60 bucks with the core charge initially. Free with the core after that!!

The $60 ones are the remans - the ones I had nothing but problems with. I tried 3 of them before giving up. None of them were in the car more than 2 weeks. :x

I just switched to new $99 NAPA axles. They even stock them at my local NAPA. Nice.

I bought a right side axle from NAPA in Topeka at the Nationals last year when i was stuck. It exploded last week during an autocross. Good for about 20,000km.
Local rebuilds have last much less.

I truly regret replacing my OE axles at 180,000km when they were still working well. I thought that I would be doing preventitive maintenance but I have only had problems with rebuilds.

Right now, I am trying OE rebuilt axles prepared by the shop that used to make my custom race axles for my CRx.... we'll see how that goes.

A word of advice, stay away from any rebuilds that use 'new' heads. They are made in taiwan and are soooo cheap.

The MOD is oem axles that are not all the way torqued down to spec. I have sliced the stub off both oem and reman but the steel of oem is better. Drag race buddy has over 200 passes on 270whp oem axles with this same mod. But if I was to upgrade Raxles or summit bargain bin
