Well Guys,

I sold #483 py Type R last year to build my dream machine. a Civic Type R. After I paid the bank off from the R I took the remaining cash (16,000) and built this the way I wanted. Still have some stuff to do but I wanted to post it up...I know it's not a Type R but I figured I owned one so you would let me post my new "Type R" Lemme know what you guys think. Thanks.

A little info...
Exterior
96 Honda Civic, NSX Kaiser Gunmetal Metallic Paint (matches the Type R wheels), 2000 Front End, JDM CTR headlights, JDM CTR rear lip, Carbon Fiber Hood, Carbon Fiber Front Lip, SI Fog Lights, Custom-Cut bumper, SI grill, Spoon-style Mirrors, Spoon-style Carbon Fiber Wing, CTR factory exhaust, H Red Emblems

Interior
2004 CTR Steering Wheel, 2001 USDM ITR Seats, CTR shiftboot, Spoon Shiftknob, SI armrest, SI door panels with power windows, SI gauge Cluster, Stereo goodies

Suspension
2001 ITR full suspension and wheels, Tein Springs, KYB adjustables, Skunk 2 control arms, Cross Drilled rotors, stainless steel line (not on yet)

Motor
1998 USDM ITR Motor, OBD 1 P28 Computer with Mugen program (5,800 vtec engagement, 9500 Redline) MSD Ignition, B&M fuel regulator, Short ram AEM Intake, Skunk 2 Engine Dress-up Kit, Straight-pipe with CTR exhaust for daily driving and Tanabe Racing Medallion for the track this summer
....and some other stuff I can't think of

Looking to do the header and finish up some little things. Just gonna have fun for a little and enjoy it.

and my favorite part of the car. only thing I didn't paint was the engine bay but It still looks clean. This bay will be my summer project for some performance upgrades and makin it look cleaner(wiring and other shit)

I built this car myself from the paintjob to the motorswap. I do miss my Type R but now I can sleep "a lil" better cause it's not a bright yellow Type R and my insurance is 1/4 what I was paying before. This car is much more agressive than the R but still feels like a civic around turns. The Type R is still, in my eyes, one of the best built cars from the factory. I miss her tons but I just enjoy spanking cars with my civic and they are like WTF. Thanks guys ROCK ON!

I like the 1/2 radiator - what kind is that?

If the car still feels like a civic, then you either got a bad itr suspension or really crappy tires & an old civic seat. losing ~3-400lbs should have made this a bad honkin corner mobile.

Good luck.

it's a fluidyne...

1st, I have itr seats 8)

correction: right now, the civic doesn't hadle like the ITR.

It's just that my type R had the full H&R coilover kit, the sway bars etc., extra strut bars, was a little lower and I just think integras feel more solid in general. Sometimes I feel like the civic might catch some wind and fly off the road. Also, I really miss the power steering and a/c too.

My CTR will be getting more suspension treatments so, in time, it'll feel better than the old ITR

I had an EK roundabout before I git my R, the R feels faster. The ek's are fat pigs, alot heavier than the eg hatch I had before it.

I had both cars weighed and the hatch only weighed 100lbs less than the r. I also had removed the sound deadening crap on the floor boards, rear seats, and spare tire. The R still had back seats and spare.

dude, you gotta be kidding me, did your EK have an R motor?

the hatch is about 2250 lbs.
Type R are 2640 lbs. (I think)

and I'm positive my car is faster than an R, considering I had my Type R first and then built this hatch. I fool around racing with my friend Pat, who has a black ITR with header, intake and exhaust. I'll walk away all day.

so wait, you had a faster motor in a 200 lb lighter car and your stock ITR is faster? right.

whatever man, I wanted to actually build something and enjoy a sleeper.
Driving an ITR around was like driving an ITR around. people know what it is. 8)

I'm not arguing with you.

I'm sure people know what they see when they see a clean EK with 5lug swap, totally painted, type r interior, type r wheels, and whatever other stuff you got. I'm not putting the car down, just saying I had the same damn car with less weight than you and I'm giving my own personal impression on my car. EK's are fat pigs. Plain and simple, if you want to talk about weight, go buy and EG hatch or CRX.

I'm glad you bought something you enjoy, thats what its all about in the end. Your car looks good! Although its not even close to a CTR, its just another hatchback with ITR parts.

Sorry if you dont like what I have to say

How many EKs do you see around compared to EGs and crxs.
seriously, you're an idiot. You started this whole weight drama e-fight.

I didn't build the car because of the weight. I bought it for the way it looks and to have something different than everyone around me. I used to have an EK before my ITR and I love the looks of it. This car was black with a blown motor and I made it into this. I wanted the satisfaction of creating something unique. You're right it isn't a close a CTR. that has a smaller engine.

I'm not gonna argue with you either. Just post pix of your old "fat pig" EK with the Type R motor and pics of your R now. Also notice what Type Rs run in the 1/4 mile outa the box and what EKs with Type R motors are running.

In my neck of the woods Bubblebacks=92-00 Civic hatchbacks. See that big black thing over the grill? Under that lies a B18C.

LMFAO. I was wondering if this thread would start going this way. I do have to agree with Walker that EK's are pigs. I've got an EG now, and I've been through more honda's than I know what to do with. Not saying that your car doesn't look good, but he's right. It's another civic with ITR parts on it. A good looking one at that. I really like how the engine bay is still black, and I'm not being sarcastic either. I think it looks cleaner that way.

As for the speed between the 2. Well that depends on a lot of factors. Are we talking motor and trans swap, or just the motor. Gearing does have a lot to do with acceleration.

I'll stick to my R for performance and my EG for fuel economy.

I'm not saying the OP's car is not nice or he chose the wrong car.

What I am saying is that:

1) If it is faster than a type R, not by much.
2) Its no where near a CTR, not even close
3) Its not a sleeper by definition
4) I personally am happier with my ITR than with my hatch
5) I dont care what any of my cars look like as long as they run perfectly.
6) To each his own!!

And my R gets 35+ mpg while the WRX gets 19 mpg at best...

I wonder why I said that???

1)ok, I know what I know
2)ok, of course it's not a ctr but tell me what is soooo different
3)well to me, it's a clean sleeper. The car did come with under a 100 hp
4)I agree and disagree, I loved my R but I hated not bringing it anywhere and constantly worrying about it. the fact that it almost got stolen like 10 times and high insurance and everything else led to me not wanting it
5) that a silly statement. Why not do with style and reliability, cause if that's what you are about, shoulda bought an LS for 10,000 less and put a turbo on it

6) agreed. 8)

k, I'm done. no beef.

speaking of...now that I don't have my high insurance and Type R car payments I picked this up as my daily driver about 3 months ago so the hatch can rest up for summertime. 8)
