Question on springs

I did a search through the forums and I had some difficulties finding anything relating to this question, so hopefully some one can help me out or point me to an old post.

The stock suspension in my R is feeling a little blah (lotta miles due to long commute) and so I wanted to get new springs and shocks. However, when I look around at the different websites selling springs, I get a little confused when they talk about how much the springs lower the car. For example, if the spring is made for the R and states that it lowers the car 1", is that 1" from the stock R ride height or the RS/LS/GS-R ride height? I wanted to lower it a little bit, but not too much. Any input would be appreciated.

Best suggestion for you without going to a full set of coilovers is to look into Koni shocks with Ground Control springs. It will lower the car only a little bit, but will give the car a great feeling.

Really depends on what your fully after in th elong run...

There are places out there that you can get the ITR suspension, or if you wana just lower it a lil bit and slightly upgrade the suspension you can get a "Sleeve" coil over and some after market "Adjustable" shocks to compliment those! But at the top of the spectrum you can get a FULL coilover "True" suspension setup (ie. Tien, Mugen, Toda, JIC, ect.) with 16 ways of adjustability on the shock for dampening and full ride highth control! These are just SLIGHTLY more expensive in th eend than getting a sleeve type coilover and a good pair of shocks. The only problem is that if you go with the "Middle of the road" setup, more than likely the springs and shocks don't 100% compliment one another as a "TRUE" coilover system does...

You have ot ask yourself what you truly want. Oh and some cheap ass springs and the like will probably be downgrading your ITR suspension. So please do us all a favor and dont spend $100 on EBay for some cheap, crap!

thanks for all the input.

Definitely not going on eBay. I'm looking at some of the bigger manufacturers like RS-R, Tanabe, Eibach etc. But I just can't figure out if the amount of lowering would be, and the manufacturers have e-mailed replies without really answering, but rather by saying something like oh, yes, we have springs for the regular Integras and the Type R, but not saying what the difference in height is.

Compared to my sister's LS at stock ride height, it looks like there is about 1/2 inch or so difference, and if a spring drops like an inch from that ride height versus an inch from my height it's a big difference...

go figure - I'll probably just go find another set of factory suspension...thanks again to all!

Factory ITR suspension is 1/2" lower than GSR and LS/RS Teggy's. Just concider that into your ride highth calculations. If for any general Integra a company says "2" drop", than it will lower your ITR by an inch and a half from stock. Thats all!
