Well, first off let me thank everyone who has helped me get the car ready and make this happen for me. BlueR had a big hand in this getting me the right parts in a very timely fashion. All the HC guys I spoke to who advised of the right parts combinations through their years of experience. My dad for being as patient with me as possible and taking time out of his day to make sure things where done right. Porsche Club of America for holding the event. Very well organized and very safe. Jeff for calling and giving the nudge to get on track. All of you guys who have supported me in getting this thing going from start to finish. All of the encouraging words you have given me have kept me going (in debt too... :P ) John at LHT for getting the car tuned even though he was preparing for NOPI. And lastly PIC for getting the sussy to me on time and giving advice for initial settings. Without you I don't think I would have had so much fun.

All in all I had a great time. Little sleep (maybe 4 hours) but that's ok, couple of Double shot espresso's took care of that. Sebring is a very fast and fun track. Has quiet a few technical sections that took some time, patience and courage to manuever. 2 blind corners (T1 and T17) took some getting used to, both are late apex's and both are blind. Thank god I had an instructor to show me the ropes of this track. Suprisingly it wasn't too hot, but hot enough. No rain all day which is amazing in FL at this time of year. I'm so hooked, I already signed up for another event with PCA at Sebring in November. Another note, I got bumped up to the next run group at the end of my second session. My instructor and event coordinator both agreed that I needed to move up and thus I did. Only difference is that I didn't have traffic holding me up.

Well, I guess I'll get on with some pics... :P

Here is the course for those who are not familiar.

I got a nice graphic for the car too. :o :P

Mah "crew" who came with trying to wake up. (We left at 4:45 am to be there for tech at 7)

My instructor giving me the run down before session 1. Look at me focus. LOL

Image

Let's get ready to RUMBLE!!!! (yes, for those who ask, we were allowed to wear short sleeves and shorts, though I did have my suit ready to go.

Entering the hot pits for the first session.

Another hot pit shot.

Us going at it on the first session.

I'll have some more up here in a few.

Congratulations man! Project was a long way acomin' but it was worth it. She really looks like she belongs out there on track amongst the Porsches. 8)
So how was the virginal track day? Any issues pop up, or anything better than expected perofrmance-wise?

I can only imagine how addicting track time must be :p

<---Anxiously awaiting more pics

Well worth it is the understatement of the year. This shit is way more addicting than drugs and almost better than sex.

The car really felt right at home on the track. I had a little bit of an understeer issue, but I'm still trying to figure out if that's the driver or the car so I didn't want to change to many variables until I work on the driver more.

Performance was TOP NOTCH! The car performed even better than I expected. Dunno if it was me/car or others were slow/less experienced but I got bumped in run groups after my first full speed session. I got pointed by, by several but never had to throw a point by out.

I'll have more pics up as time allows at work. I'm pretty busy right now but I have lunch at 12 so at the latest it will be then.

Bathroom break anyone? :P

I'm gonna try like hell to bring her. We'll see how the new job works out for me.

Cool! I definitely would like to hear that half-exhaust in person. :p

Here's just a dumb curiosity question. Since you don't have the console in their anymore, have you mounted the badge # somewhere in the caR ? heR number is 00-0031 right? Just wondering what track folks do with it when they strip out the interior. I thought over the clock space would be neat..

Well the previous owner asked if he could keep the badge. Since I got the car for the price I did (6k) I said yes. he also kept the "A" badges as well. Doesn't really bother me since this car will never have an interior again. One thing I am doing though is taking the hood vin tag and making a key chain out of it. It will be the key chain for the car.

In that last pic... I tlooks like you need some more air in the rear tires

Glad you had fun and did not break the first rule... Bring yourself and the car home safely.

Is that your Dad on track in the Lightining????

I told you the car was pushing and had understeer. I've got a few ideas in mind to do before the track again in Nov.

Yep, didn't have a problem at all with Rule #1. Hell, I drove a little on the conservative side IMO.

Yeah, he's out there..... but only on 3 parade laps. He wanted to see the course from my view and once I told him he could bring his truck out there he got in line for it. Pretty much kept it under 50 as you can see in one of those pics I don't have a helmet on while on track.

I'm glad to see your dad got to swing out there for a bit. After some experience you'll be able to take him in the car with you for an hpde. :-)

Good to see you finally made it!!

I can't wait for that day to take him out full speed. He's already wanting to get me into a Racing school now but I told him to hold off a bit until I get just a bit more experience then we can move to that.

That's what I'm thinking. Let me get 5 or so track days in before a race school. But also, I want to find a race school I can drive my car at and not RWD vipers and such.

Ha, I never said experienced fool. I just want to get the initial butterflies and such out before I go to a racing school. I think it would be better to have track days under my belt before a school ya think?

Actually, No.

You might pick up bad habits that are hard to break.

You'll know pretty quickly whether an instructor is full of crap or not. Ask nice lead questions like what kind of car they race and/or their experience.

The basics are all the same (and terminology). It can make the difference in how you enter a corner or where to place the car.
