New Problem....

Ok, new problem. I fixed the VTEC problem, seems like it burns oil pretty quickly in 500 miles. Anyways, highway driving going 140, starts to lose power in 5th gear. It seems to now pull in all gears but 5th....after 90 its a push to get it to 5700rpm, and it feels like its sort of fighting the brakes or something, but it feels normal in the other gears, so I doubt it is the clutch slipping. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Matt

ATS and Quafe make nice gear sets, ussualy it's the whole 3,4, and 5th gears, should run you about 650-900 bucks, but what you're describing is a lack of gearing up high, not a problem. You're trying to push a 2500lb car in 5th gear against a lot of wind. It's gonna take a while to get up there, either change gears, or deal with it.

Maybe the wind picked up during the night, it just felt like it was easier to get up to speed, but once I did 140, it was hard to get it back up past 120.

It shouldn't be easy getting up to that speed. I don't see a good reason to even go that fast

Ok, I have been driving it the past couple of days and here are my observations:
1. Car is difficult at times to put into 1st gear, and tends to grind on shifts into 3rd and 5th.

2. When in traffic, the car will feel like it is idling rough stopped while in gear, but will feel normal if taken out of gear.

3. The car does not feel like it is pulling as hard as it used to, but the clutch does not feel like it is shot. It almost feels as if the brakes are dragging, and it wont pull as hard from gear to gear, losing RPMs and falling off VTEC. (I am revving it high too).

4. In 5th gear the car just loses all power, and feels really slow.

I am from the world of motocross, so I am new to cars, but all this happened after I took the car to 140, so I obviously fucked something up pretty bad (I know it was stupid going 140 :D ). It could be the clutch, my friend thinks its transmission is shot, or possibly motor. Could the valves be out of adjustment? I am confused why it would be dragged down the most in 5th gear, since the car actually shifts into it. Anyways any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt
