Graphic Designers and Site Designers :: ITRCA Needs Your Help

As of a few months ago, I took on the project of coordinating a site redesign of ITRCA.com. My time has been spent cleaning up the forums and performing site admin functions.

My background is app/db development, and project management. I'm not really qualified to take the site/graphic design task on myself.

ITRCA is looking for anyone who would like to assist in redesigning the site. This is a strictly volunteer job, we'd all be working for free, for the good of the community, to sharpen our skills, and to promote our great work once completed. :)

This project is going to be two main phases.

Phase 1 (asap) - clean up the current php site as quickly as possible. The code, which I inherited, is a mess, and the site is in dire need of a cleanup. Main objective will be to create some informational pages about Expo 7, link to the forthcoming registration app (which will be stored on another site this year), help design sponsorship proposal (for Honda), and create an Expo History section from what we currently have up there now. Another secondary task will be to shore up the ITRCA registry. Generally just a simple cleanup.

Phase 2 - we will be moving the site to an ASP capable hosting company in the future. At this time we will take on a FULL site redesign. At this time we'd consider any submitted designs and logos, then reassemble our group to implement the newly designed site. In addition, we'd like to upgrade the current ITRCA registry.

Our main focus will be to implement phase 1 as quickly as possible. I will work on a requirements document for phase 2 shortly, but if you have an idea or a design you'd like us to consider, please feel free to sent it to me at any time.

If you are interested in helping and have the skills required (php, sql, html, css at the very least, graphic design as well would be great), and more importantly, some time to dedicate to this project, please contact me at cjnicastro@gmail.com or PM me here.

I'm looking for 3-4 people to do these projects, but will not turn away any help.

Thanks,
Chris Nicastro

Chris - Thanks for hoping on this.

I really hope some good guys/gals from the ITR community will step up to the plate. I've been working on this since the first Expo...time to move on.

Now I can relax & spend more time beating the crud out of the ITR race kaa.

peace -

BudMan

Why ASP?

Sounds like the biggest roadbump in the project.

Paid projects take precedence, I'm booked up pretty good right now however I run the gammut in experience from backend MySQL design and admin to PHP/CSS front ends as well as graphic design. The only thing I don't do is anythign with any Windows development languages and Flash, but I have guys on standby with flash.

I'm not sure what I could commit to, but I think the project would be worth the squeeze as far as portfolio and personal pride goes.

I could help.
Though i will say that i can NOT do any kind of coding. Right now im just learning the basics of HTML, im actaully working on a template thats almost done.

But for coding im still learning and wouldnt be much help with that, especially for free. If you want a good coded site you might have to pay someone who knows how to do it, sry. :/

but yeah i can do designing, like for banners and logos, etc.
Let me know if i can help @ zeroartgfx@gmail.com or aim: zeroartgfx05

some work:

PS: If i were you i would buy a skin here: http://www.extremepixels.com/phpBB/skins_phpBB.php than just change the banner and forum icons, and it'll save you a ton of time.

Ok guys. I posted a new thread but should add it here too. We are looking to build a new site. I am going to front empty hosting space for development that will eventually go live. ASP has been requested in part to support the registration needs of the Expo.

We need an ASP based free forum software and we need some good graphics people. I can get the space once we have people ready to actively use it.

why asp? I don't understand. You're already running PHP/MySQL, it's much more widely supported and has a huge developer community. Leave it the way it is, PHP developers are a dime a doz anyway. Let me know what you need to do with the Expo registration stuff in detail and i'll get you a quote.
